I just had my first changa experience, (1:1 spice, caapi leaves w/ a glass bong) absolutely incredible. I would like to go further into the space, but the first 60 seconds feel so alien and bizarre that it was difficult to force myself to take another hit. I guess it is just anxiety and fear of being overcome so quickly. It was nice however to kind of test the waters before diving in head first. I know the answer is to just take another hit, but the initial sensations are so frightening and bizzare that it was difficult to push myself. I guess this may come with experience. Can you folks relate to the anxiety after the first hit, and have any recommendations for how to force yourself to go further? Perhaps a silly question, but I appreciate any input. I would like to take some time to process this experience before attempting again, and I would like to be better prepared next time. The only advice I have to offer you is that when I see those frightening warning signs, I take that as my cue to move in on that next hit. For me, I've been conditioned to love those anxious moments because they've oft been followed by some of the most amazing minutes of my life. If you can tell yourself in your head that it will all be alright, and just push through, some grand things can ensue. If things go sour, it's only a few minutes and then you're back on your feet. Sound advice, I appreciate your response. I have had many high dose psychedelic experiences that I have been able to navigate very well, there is something fear inducing about how rapid and unpredictable I have read DMT to be. I suppose, as you stated that the fear is a precursor to the magic of this experience. I have been reading through the changa forums, and noticed some posters recommend starting with a smaller dose to get 'airborne' and then as you are slightly coming down, go for the gusto. It seems like this may help, as my anxieties faded last time with supplemental dosing. Thanks again for the supportiveness of this community. This forum is so much more considerate and respectful than some other sites in my opinion. “What goes on inside is just too fast and huge and all interconnected for words to do more than barely sketch the outlines of at most one tiny little part of it at any given instant.” - David Foster Wallace

Sometimes you have to learn to distinguish the physical fear of a fight/flight response (plus a lot of other weird sensations) from a legitimate mental fear. Sometimes it's just your amygdala If you can tell yourself in your head everything will be ok, and that it's just an electro-chemical response you're having, it can be easier to push through. There are many more experienced than me on this forum. My advice would be to relax and completely surrender yourself to the experience. Enjoy the ride! “My brain is only a receiver.
