I was looking through some old studies from the MK-ULTRA project and I stumbled across something called Hypnodelic Therapy (Hypnosis + Psychedelic). The idea is that given that psychedelics can often allow people to confront themselves and work through issues they might not have dealt with. A person could use hypnosis to guide the traveler to a place where they can affect real change, with psychedelics breaking down the ego and opening them up in ways they otherwise couldn't.

When you take an entheogen, sometimes it's hard to give yourself direction, very often you're at the mercy of the drug and it can be overwhelming. Some trips are just a lot of pretty pictures, some trips are really rough, some trips are deeply meaningful and everything in between.

When you are hypnotized the mind and body are relaxed and softened, and the hypnotist is there to provide direction. The traveler can set out, with the help of a sober guide who may have a better understanding of how people's mind works than your average trip-sitter, explore their consciousness while minimizing the risk of an overwhelming 'bad trip.'

I am a hypnotist, and there are a few others at my school, but they are (I think understandably) not entirely enthusiastic about the idea.

As anyone here ever experimented with this? Is this a terrible idea.

It doesn't sound like a great idea to me to be honest. Vaping dmt while being hypnotized imo wouldn't be worthwhile. The dmt would blow the hypnotization out of the water i think. I may be totally wrong though Smile

I agree that DMT would not be the ideal drug to use in this case, it takes the persons conscience too far away.

In the MK-ULTRA project, I believe LSD-25 was the drug of choice, as there is adequate time to do a full session and the dosages can be very effectively controlled.
Psilocybin and Psilocin could also work, as could any member of the 2C family.

I've also been interested in exploring this with MDMA ('Molly'Pleased, having read a few articles recently on how it may help treat PTSD, and listening to the subjective experiences of a lot of people who have taken it in introspective, quite settings. (i.e.: not a rave).

It's worth noting that most of the reports I could find seemed to think that this had a lot of potential, but given that they are a) 50+ years old and b) the CIA really had no idea what they were doing, I'm leery of taking their word for it, although positive results are nice to hear.

I feel like, while using a tape might work, it would be much better if you were with a real fellow human being.

If things do start to go bad, I would want someone who can react to that, make decisions and try and help the traveler work through it.
You can't do that with a tape, since it's all pre-recorded.

I've thought that mescaline might be good. I've never tried it myself, but I have heard that it is a very gentle molecule and that it's hard to have a bad trip on it.
Is this the case?
(Might it also then be a good intro to psychedelics? I went into these things all wrong, but I have some friends who want to start exploring, and I'm certainly not going to throw them in the deep end like I was.)

As for your question, I find song lyrics don't really effect me personally as much as the overall sound of the music does.
I'm synesthetic, so if I'm going through a rough patch, on or off substances, I like to put in some songs that are (in my head), bright, colorful songs. Major chords are good. I find actually that, with a few exceptions, lyrics actually make it hard to let your mind go, as you end up listening to the lyrics yourself.

A Heavy Abacus (Qulinez Remix) - The Joy Formidable

I don't know how you feel about dance music, but that song has never failed to lift me up out of a bad experience and send me shooting off to heaven.
