DMT! i am sad to say ive never done it.. however, i have been doing A LOT of research over the few months and trying new psycho actives to get me prepared for this apparently life changing experience. I fear that the onset might be as quick as salvia, and i fear that the experience might be very similar to salvia. I've done salvia over 20 times (20x, mostly 40x, one time 60x) and i just don't know. i can't tell if i like it or not. It definetly brings me to a new world, but something.. i dont know. i just don't feel at peace. I get very hot and itchy and just plain uncomfortable, and no matter what i do sometimes i just get so frustrated because i cannot get comfortable. But that's not every time. i've had a few crazy trips, like one there was a bunch of gumby creatures just flying across my vision of all diffrent colors, and another my mate with me totally transformed into a bananna. i was having a fit laughing. I'm really interested in ayahuasca. Although DMT may be easier to take in (considering the horrid taste of ayahuasca) I don't want my first DMT trip to be.. well, in vain. and when i say in vain i mean, i just dont want to do it just to trip. i really want to get in touch with my spiritual self. i want to learn things that i could never have learned before without taking DMT. i seek to learn form this experience, and ayahuasca seems like a more learning experience, more spiritual, rather than just smoking the dmt and tripping through hyperspace for 10-30 minutes. Are any of you familiar with the book DMT: The Spirit Molecule? I was emailing the author of the book, Dr. Rick Strassman, and he gave me some insight on what i should do. He said set and setting are key, but DMT brings you to a new world, and like in his movie, What is set and setting when you are blindfolded? It's your consciousness. your subconcious. and i need to clear that up i think before i dive head first into worlds unknown. Just some thoughts ive been having, any feedback would be appreciated!

Much Love.

Have you ever had a psychadelic experience before?

Mayhaps a better question would be if you ever had a spiritual experience before.

It's important to understand that DMT isn't going to give you concrete answers. Just more questions. Some of those questions might help to answer other questions, but only if you can connect the dots.

If you haven't had a psychadelic experience before, might I suggest LSD or mushrooms first. It's best to cut your teeth before getting into the heavy stuff, so to speak. Vaporized DMT can be... well, heaven or hell, depending on set and setting.

What exactly is it that you're looking to clear up?

Also aside of the fact that DMT and salvia are two visionary substances with quick onsets and durations and can be intense, the similarities end there. Salvia is indeed quite the uncomfortable, disorienting and confusing experience. IMO it has very little to do with DMT. It distorts the sense of touch probably more than any other psychoactive.

I think using salvia as some kind of yardstick for the DMT experience (when vaporised) is inadequate or incomplete in many respects. The rapid onset and weirdness/extreme dislocation are perhaps the only common features.

If one is after something more 'spiritual' then getting an idea of what this means in practise would be better achieved with something like LSD or psilocybin first. Vaporised DMT can be a little too short-lived and frantically paced an experience for the spiritual dimension to be readily grasped. It would also allow one to realise the implications of set and setting more fully, a necessary requisite for DMT both when vaporised and taken as ayahuasca.

With LSD and psilocybin its easier to appreciate how ones subconscious has a bearing on the experience; this is true of DMT too, but IME, DMT can bring things forth which have no easily discernible root in ones subconscious.

I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

I fear as though i have some problems in my psyche, and while they might not be relevant in my conscious, they could still exist in my subconscious. About a year ago i went through a horrible depression, having the absolute most worst year of my life, crying spells every night, feeling of worthlessness, all of that. and i do take an SSRI now and i don't feel that way anymore at all, but I've heard that psychedelics can bring your subconscious up forth and i don't want it bringing any of my dark past back to haunt me when i'm trying to have an extremely spiritual experience. I have been trying to get Magic Mushrooms for some time, they are extremely hard to find around where i live and i don't usually agree with buying drugs other than marijuana, of course i can't use that anymore. I have been considering growing my own cubensis mushrooms for some time, and i probably will do that before i venture into the realm of ayahuasca or freebase DMT.

Growing your own Mushrooms is an excellet idea. It is actually a fun and rewarding experience. Anytime you can have an intimate relationship with the substance you plan to ingest, IMO, it makes the experience more fun and meaningful.

Good luck on your quest.
