so swim just preformed a fasa extraction on 1 gram of freebase goo derived from acacia confusa. it was dissolved in 30ml of anhydrous acetone and fasa was added drop by drop till no more clouding occured. everything went great right up untill swim drained the excess acetone off to let the xtals dry. its now starting to goo back up wtf??? anyone have any input on this situation, any help would be appriciated.

Dmt fumarate is somewhat hygroscopic (i.e. it can turn to goo). just take the goo and dry it further like in an oven at the lowest setting or in a dessicator and the goo will become a solid mass that you'll easily be able to powder up.

Which would you suggest trying first?

so swim took your advice and placed it in the oven at roughly 180*F for like 6 hours and ended up with something solid but still with a waxy texture, (if rolled into a ball and dropped into a pyrex baking dish it makes a *tink* sound). definitely not to powder stage quite yet. swim wonders if he spreads out the super dense wax and puts it back in the oven if it will get any dryer? does anyone else think it will get dry enough to powder cause 6 hours seemed like a long time? just dont wanna mess anything up. input would be greatly appriciated

try with manual crystallization. also bear in mind that some acacia species yield oily/ waxy extracts due to oxides or other substances. you can always freebase it and make nice changa out of it. it will still be very active.

the substance is too dense to smear.

180F for 6 hours is waaaay too much for fumarates drying to a state where they can be powdered. Often 30min at 130F is more than enough.

I suspect that since your source is a.confusa, you are dealing with a substance whose salt is quite hygroscopic even as fumarate salt. Maybe, for instance you have NMT-fumarate and that is very hygroscopic by nature? (that is just guesswork).

Did you wash your fumarates with acetone or isopropanol? that might take away residual lipids and aid solidifying. Also, do you plan on turning them onto freebase? If yes, then you do not have to worry about powdery fumarates, but be warned that your freebases might be very gooey.

nope, didnt wash it. swim put it back in the oven for another 3 hours on top of the 6 hours and it solidified to a scrapeable powder state
