Alright, so this is my first post on the Nexus though I have been reading on the site for the past 2 years of so. I am usually unable to eloquently expess how I feel in terms of spice/spirituality, ect.

First, I'd like to say that I have been using spice consistently for 4 years, and a bachelors degree in environmental biology. I piece of paper doesn't say much about who I am, but I'm just trying to express that I'm no dum dum. About a year ago, I had a few things that happened to me that actually have made me believe in no one other but the almighty God. This has led me, or even better to say, the Urantia Book has truly changed my life. But I will never disregard the depths of spice I have reached in the past four years. Truly phenomenal and unexplainable to my mind.

In the Urantia Book (if anyone is interested and curious please do research on it, its a beautiful book in every way, shape, and form), the "celestial beings" that are narrators of the book talk about "thought adjusters." This is from paper 107, 108, and 109 in the book, so please read and this will all make more sense.

Basically it says, these thought adjusters are fragmented entities of God that reside in the human mind; made of pure love and god, which give you a natural way of "wanting to be like God." They are assigned to all mortal creatures before your soul/spirit exists in the physical body. Its kind of hard to explain, but is very compelling in the book, thats why i say to read these papers.

One of the quotes that i read last night that really made me thing that these "thought adjusters" or "fragmented dieties" are what you see in the depths of entity hyperspace is this: (paper 108.6.7) "The Monitors are the prisoners of undying hope, the founts of everlasting progression. And how they do enjoy communicating with their subjects in more or less direct channels! How they rejoice when they can dispense with symbols and other methods of indirection and flash their messages straights to the intellects of their Human partners!"

Look I said, keep and open mind about the unknown others/celestial beings that supposedly wrote this book, and after you read the papers, the connection may seem clear with you as well.

Take it easy. Much Love

Welcome to the Nexus! Awesome to see another nexian interested in the Urantia papers, this is such a great tool for people interested in spice, a spiritual path or both. This book really has helped me a great deal in understanding other religous texts. If you havent heard of A Course In Miracles (ACIM) Id like to encourage you to check it out as to me it goes hand in hand with the Urantia papers. I feel like ACIM is of the more feminine perception of spirituality as Urantia is more thr masculine view.

By the way I just registered to start college, and I also am looking to get a bs in biology..Smile

"The URANTIA Book (UB) is a 2097-page, 1.25 million-word compilation of several papers allegedly authored by a group of "divine revelators" claiming to representatives of God's vast celestial hierarchy. These "ghostwriters" (pun intended) were commissioned by their heavenly "supervisors" to enlighten the human inhabitants of this planet (which they call Urantia) as to how mankind has been supposedly misled throughout human history by the errors of religious thinking. The primary target for which the UB "authors" claim is in need of "correction" in the arena of religion is the Bible, with all its misconceptions regarding the nature of God, who Jesus was, etc. Thanks in part to what the famous skeptic Martin Gardner points out in his book entitled URANTIA: The Great Cult Mystery, I find it difficult to accept the truth-claims that these alleged celestial authors present, in light of several factors. To begin with, Gardner takes exception to the many scientific errors within the pages of the UB. Much of the UB's vast science content has been rendered outdated because of discoveries made since (and in some cases prior to) its publication in 1955. Some of the scientific data, however, is outright erroneous to begin with (such as the surface temperature of the sun and the number of chromosomes in a human cell). These alleged higher minds of the heavenly host attempt to excuse the outdated science by evoking a "prime directive," supposedly handed down by their celestial superiors, which admonishes them not to reveal any unearned science to us evolving mortals and to present their scientific treatises within the limits of our then-current vernacular. However, this excuse does not bode well because at the same time these intergalactic messengers are bedazzling us with their brilliance as pertains to things known, they also baffle us with a fantastic model of the universe that is beyond our wildest dreams and which is, of course, unearned science. Ample more compelling evidence is provided by Gardner that suggests the UB was the brainchild not of celestials, but of mere terrestrials. The all-too-human concept of racism and a blatant promotion of eugenics are given full endorsement by the "divine revelators." Furthermore, many revealing cases of plagiarism on the part of the visiting spirits are cited. But what tips the scale of human invention is the weight of Seventh Day Adventist influence to be found in the UB. The angelic authors wholeheartedly adopt such 7DA doctrines as soul-sleep, the annihilation of the wicked, the denial of the existence of hell, and that Jesus Christ is (the archangel) Michael. (The UB prescribes a variation on this Adventist theme in that Jesus is just one of several hundred thousand Sons of God throughout the vastly populated universe, born prior to his human incarnation into the celestial aristocratic order of Michaels. He surreptitiously died on the cross at the hands of evil men not to atone for your sins, but to cap his own career as celestial sovereign to our little corner of the universe.) But just because these similarities exist between the UB and a "Christian" sect does not mean that the UB and the Bible are compatible with one another. If the reader is endowed with even a basic knowledge of the Bible, then many particular contrasts will stand out clearly when comparing notes. In exchange for bestowing divinity upon the would-be believer, the UB vehemently denies all major historic Christian doctrines including the Atonement, Virgin Birth, bodily resurrection, and Deity of Christ. And this is not all that is to be gleaned from the UB papers regarding Christianity. These are but a few of the observations that a discerning Christian will make when comparing the UB with the Bible. The UB author(s): 1) Claim that the Old Testament represents the evolved religion of a superstitious desert clan; 2) Rewrite the four Gospels to fit their own preconceived agenda; 3) Write up a history of Jesus' years as a youth and young adult, again agenda-driven; 4) Disparage Paul as having influenced Christianity by injecting Hellenism and Paganism; 5) State that Jesus was not the Messiah, nor did He claim to be; and the list goes on and on. Speaking of the apostle Paul, how easy it seems for these resplendent revisionists to lop off nearly two thirds of the New Testament by declaring his works irrelevant. Could there be a motive behind their redactory method? I will quote just one Bible verse in this review, written by Paul nearly two thousand years ago (which the divine revelators no doubt would prefer that it be ignored), and let the reader decide whether or not the shoe fits:

"But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed." ( Galatians 1:8 )

Why does the UB attract so many faithful adherents, despite its questionable trustworthiness? The answer is simple; because the UB makes elegant use of (quite literally) the oldest trick in the book. It strokes the reader's ego by telling the would-be believer what he or she wants to hear (2Tim. 4:2,3); that despite their occasional tendency to "err," they have within them a divine agent that renders them Godlike. This same pretty package has been rewrapped countless times and continues to be offered today in the guise of the New Age movement. You can read about the first time this ploy was used (and its rather successful results) in the Bible (Gen. 3:5 et seq.). "

dont waste your time cyb, you'll just be enticed to read a 2,000 page racist book with an eugenics agenda. the book tries to cover this up by talking about the connection between all religions etc but you'd be better off reading Aldous Huxley's Perennial Philosophy if you want to understand that.

quotes from the wack-a-doodle racist eugenics Urantia book:

P850:7, 76:4.1 Adam and Eve were the founders of the violet race of men, the ninth human race to appear on Urantia. Adam and his offspring had blue eyes, and the violet peoples were characterized by fair complexions and light hair color -- yellow, red, and brown.

P850:8, 76:4.2 Eve did not suffer pain in childbirth; neither did the early evolutionary races. Only the mixed races produced by the union of evolutionary man with the Nodites and later with the Adamites suffered the severe pangs of childbirth.

P851:3, 76:4.5 Both the physical and spiritual visions of Adam and Eve were far superior to those of the present-day peoples. Their special senses were much more acute, and they were able to see the midwayers and the angelic hosts, the Melchizedeks, and the fallen Prince Caligastia, who several times came to confer with his noble successor. They retained the ability to see these celestial beings for over one hundred years after the default. These special senses were not so acutely present in their children and tended to diminish with each succeeding generation.

P851:4, 76:4.6 The Adamic children were usually Adjuster indwelt since they all possessed undoubted survival capacity. These superior offspring were not so subject to fear as the children of evolution. So much of fear persists in the present-day races of Urantia because your ancestors received so little of Adam's life plasm, owing to the early miscarriage of the plans for racial physical uplift.

P851:6, 76:4.8 After becoming established in the second garden on the Euphrates, Adam elected to leave behind as much of his life plasm as possible to benefit the world after his death. Accordingly, Eve was made the head of a commission of twelve on race improvement, and before Adam died this commission had selected 1,682 of the highest type of women on Urantia, and these women were impregnated with the Adamic life plasm. Their children all grew up to maturity except 112, so that the world, in this way, was benefited by the addition of 1,570 superior men and women. Though these candidate mothers were selected from all the surrounding tribes and represented most of the races on earth, the majority were chosen from the highest strains of the Nodites, and they constituted the early beginnings of the mighty Andite race. These children were born and reared in the tribal surroundings of their respective mothers.

i was given this book by someone i consider to be "spiritually naive" (for lack of a better term) and about a week later (before i had gotten a chance to getting around to reading it) she came back to me and told me to disregard the book.

i will say it is great for pressing flowers, however. i have quite a large stock of morning glory flowers in those pages..

it seems (to me) reminiscent of drunvalo melchizedek, an interesting read, but to be taken with a grain of salt.

Everyone has their own opinion. I'm not trying to argue that the Urantia book is the truth to anyone. However it is a fabulous book. It says that Jesus' most important teaching is that the kingdom of god is within you. If that sounds wrong, than the whole world sounds wrong. When you read even of the journey's this son of god has gone through before being a mortal, it is even more compelling. However, I understand completely why one wouldnt believe in such a thing. Religion has lead people astray.

Now I absolutely have no interest in discussing what this book is, or how true or fake it is. Unless you have read a substantial amount of this book, not just quotes, keep and open mind and take it with a grain of salt. What I ask is too read the three papers on "thought adjusters," and maybe if this clicks with you, read more, and make your own interpretations.

I truly love this quote

(paper 108.6.7) "The Monitors are the prisoners of undying hope, the founts of everlasting progression. And how they do enjoy communicating with their subjects in more or less direct channels! How they rejoice when they can dispense with symbols and other methods of indirection and flash their messages straights to the intellects of their Human partners!"

If you have been in the depths of hyperspace, read what these "thought adjusters" or diety entities are, then you may find a connection. Just check it out. Expand your mind instead of discrediting anything because of "what you know for sure." Getting the whole story is always better than reading the ending. The reward is the journey, right?

enjoy

In my eyes, the connection is extrememly strong for something written between the 1920's and 1950's, well before the "dmt revolution" I guess you could call it that. You know what I mean.

The book sounds a little out there, i understand that. The whole world is a bit bizzare isn't it? If you can open your mind to using the spice, i think you could open your mind to just read a little bit and make assumptions later.

so with that I'd just like to hear the thoughts of people that read it, and try to make the connection instead of arguing validity without reading; which will get none of us anywhere. Fair enough?

Any and all spiritual books will be misrepresented, twisted, and taken out of context.

We shouldnt speek in absolute authority over spiritual beliefs unless there is obvious, inherent discreprencies with common sense as to the golden rule.

We are all entitled to believe what we wish, and I'm sure we have all been scrutinized over our beliefs. That dosen't make it ok.

We are all entiteled to our opinions, but there is a difference in having just that and a tendency to bash what we dont understand, dont like, or just plain want to.

I agree, but I can't figure out if you were agreeing with me or not Confused

All I'm saying is its a good read, which seeems like a connection between the entities we see in hyperspace, and the divine entities described in the book as "thought adjusters". I didn't mean for my posts to start conflict by any means. Take everything with a grain of salt. But I'd like to say its worth the quick read. It's three short papers, of if you even want to lighten that up....just read 108:6.3 (urantia book)

I agree with you totally Mike, I love the book. This sort of thing happens often with spiritual posts, no time to discuss it people state their opinion as fact, quote famous people who state their opinion as fact claiming to point out contradiction in the said post or belief failing to take into consideration their own, I'm talking about haretics post.

Im looking into Martin gardners claims now, they in no way describe the Urantia book.

FYI, I read this around eight or nine years ago and found it to be of very little value. You're free to believe what you want to believe, but I'd suggest that your attempts to align the experience of DMT with the Book of Urantia will be no more than shoehorning to satisfy your own belief on the matter.

ntwhtyouknw, right on. Give that section a read man.

I haven't found any other information in that book that directly corresponds to dmt, nor do I think i will, or was I actually looking for it. It was kind of a fluke. I happen to just come across this while i was actually reading the book. I wasn't looking for anything specifically. For example, looking in the index for dmt or mushrooms, or anything of that sort.

okay so here is a decent sections to read about the thought adjusters...like I said, I'm new to this message board stuffDrool

Urantia Book: Paper 108.6

6. God in Man

(1192.6) 108:6.1 It is indeed a marvel of divine condescension for the exalted and perfect Adjusters to offer themselves for actual existence in the minds of material creatures, such as the mortals of Urantia, really to consummate a probationary union with the animal-origin beings of earth.

(1193.1) 108:6.2 No matter what the previous status of the inhabitants of a world, subsequent to the bestowal of a divine Son and after the bestowal of the Spirit of Truth upon all humans, the Adjusters flock to such a world to indwell the minds of all normal will creatures. Following the completion of the mission of a Paradise bestowal Son, these Monitors truly become the “kingdom of heaven within you.” Through the bestowal of the divine gifts the Father makes the closest possible approach to sin and evil, for it is literally true that the Adjuster must coexist in the mortal mind even in the very midst of human unrighteousness. The indwelling Adjusters are particularly tormented by those thoughts which are purely sordid and selfish; they are distressed by irreverence for that which is beautiful and divine, and they are virtually thwarted in their work by many of man’s foolish animal fears and childish anxieties.

(1193.2) 108:6.3 The Mystery Monitors are undoubtedly the bestowal of the Universal Father, the reflection of the image of God abroad in the universe. A great teacher once admonished men that they should be renewed in the spirit of their minds; that they become new men who, like God, are created in righteousness and in the completion of truth. The Adjuster is the mark of divinity, the presence of God. The “image of God” does not refer to physical likeness nor to the circumscribed limitations of material creature endowment but rather to the gift of the spirit presence of the Universal Father in the supernal bestowal of the Thought Adjusters upon the humble creatures of the universes.

(1193.3) 108:6.4 The Adjuster is the wellspring of spiritual attainment and the hope of divine character within you. He is the power, privilege, and the possibility of survival, which so fully and forever distinguishes you from mere animal creatures. He is the higher and truly internal spiritual stimulus of thought in contrast with the external and physical stimulus, which reaches the mind over the nerve-energy mechanism of the material body.

(1193.4) 108:6.5 These faithful custodians of the future career unfailingly duplicate every mental creation with a spiritual counterpart; they are thus slowly and surely re-creating you as you really are (only spiritually) for resurrection on the survival worlds. And all of these exquisite spirit re-creations are being preserved in the emerging reality of your evolving and immortal soul, your morontia self. These realities are actually there, notwithstanding that the Adjuster is seldom able to exalt these duplicate creations sufficiently to exhibit them to the light of consciousness.

(1193.5) 108:6.6 And as you are the human parent, so is the Adjuster the divine parent of the real you, your higher and advancing self, your better morontial and future spiritual self. And it is this evolving morontial soul that the judges and censors discern when they decree your survival and pass you upward to new worlds and never-ending existence in eternal liaison with your faithful partner — God, the Adjuster.

(1193.6) 108:6.7 The Adjusters are the eternal ancestors, the divine originals, of your evolving immortal souls; they are the unceasing urge that leads man to attempt the mastery of the material and present existence in the light of the spiritual and future career. The Monitors are the prisoners of undying hope, the founts of everlasting progression. And how they do enjoy communicating with their subjects in more or less direct channels! How they rejoice when they can dispense with symbols and other methods of indirection and flash their messages straight to the intellects of their human partners!

(1194.1) 108:6.8 You humans have begun an endless unfolding of an almost infinite panorama, a limitless expanding of never-ending, ever-widening spheres of opportunity for exhilarating service, matchless adventure, sublime uncertainty, and boundless attainment. When the clouds gather overhead, your faith should accept the fact of the presence of the indwelling Adjuster, and thus you should be able to look beyond the mists of mortal uncertainty into the clear shining of the sun of eternal righteousness on the beckoning heights of the mansion worlds of Satania.

How am I rude? I'm not attacking Mike personally, I'm simply providing a counter point. I believe I provided some good quotes to back up my claims, but here are some more direct ones from Urantia that prove it's racism and eugenics agenda:

“unrestrained multiplication of inferiors, with decreasing reproduction of superiors, is unfailingly suicidal of cultural civilization”

“The church, because of overmuch false sentiment, has long ministered to the underprivileged and the unfortunate ... leading to the unwise perpetuation of racially degenerate stocks.”

“The indigo [Black] race was moving south in Africa, there to begin its slow but long-continued racial deterioration.”

“It is neither tenderness nor altruism to bestow futile sympathy upon degenerated human beings, unsalvable, abnormal and inferior mortals.”

“The selective elimination of inferior human strains will tend to eradicate many mortal inequalities.”

In regard to eugenics: “The difficulty of executing such a radical program on Urantia consists in the absence of competent judges to pass upon the biologic fitness or unfitness of the individuals of your world races." "Notwithstanding this obstacle, it seems that you ought to be able to agree upon the biologic disfellowshiping of your more markedly unfit, defective, degenerate, and antisocial stocks”.

Leo Tolstoy's most famous work entitled "The Kingdom of God is Within You" tackled this in 1893 over a half century before the book of Urantia hit shelves. Aldous Huxley also tackled the whole religion meshing theme in his famous work, "The Perennial Philosophy". The book of Urantia is MAD late to the party appropriating these established themes while mixing in it's own wack-a-doodle fables about how the ""red man, blue man..." are superior, while the "orange, green and indigo man" are inferior.

How could we have an honest discussion on the book if you already "love" it. You'd be bringing a biased view to the table. Nobody is claiming their opinion as fact besides the "alien hierarchy" authors of Urantia who make all these wack-a-doodle claims about the history of the earth (including the assertion that the earth's factual name is Urantia) that has been dispelled a myriad of times by actual science. Therefore it is YOU who is failing to take into consideration your own biased beliefs based on the book and not on outside objective facts.
