This is my first post even though I've been a member since 2010, and viewed these boards for who knows how much longer. I've enjoyed reading reading through countless threads and until just a few moments ago never really felt a need to post anything. What did spark an interest to post was TheMaxx's post "Something Very Big is Happening...". That thread was an amazing read mainly because of all of the helpful and thoughtful responses to a mentality I'm sure a lot of us have shared.

I also read the Messianic Complex thread which frankly blew my mind, particularly daedaloops' post regarding the hesitation to talk about these thoughts out of fear of coming off egotistical, which in itself is egotistical. I love abstract ideas and concepts but when I was younger I was fearful of how people would react if I tried to discuss these thoughts with them. Over time I got sick of holding it in and just talked about it. Needless to say the person I told had no clue what I was talking about but I was still just as sane as I was before I had said it. I had realized that it was just an idea among countless others I could have had.

I apologize for this post being all over the place. I just wanted to share a philosophy which I didn't know existed until today. It's called solipsism which "is the philosophical idea that only one's own mind is sure to exist." (Wiki). I don't wholeheartedly believe in this philosophy but I thought it should be worth noting that pursuing abstract concepts and ideas have been done throughout all history with and without mind altering substances.

(I intended to write this in another thread but this seems to be the only sub-forum that I can post in, so I apologize again if this seems random and all over the place.)

Hi There satchelpack,

Thanks so much for posting an Introduction Essay. Wow - 2 years and no posts. Great to see you feeling a need to participate.

Have you noticed all the radical, new and ongoing changes? Revolutionary, isn't it?

You know, you can post on those threads in the Open Discussion Area by titling your thread with a reference to the other thread and linking the other thread in your post. For example "re: Something Very Big is Happening . . . " then in your first paragraph, including a hyperlink to that post. Then it's on! Usually these kind of Open Discussion posts get a lot of hits and replies.

Keep posting when you feel like participating. Great to have you playing more of a role here.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

Hey satchelpack
I once told a psychiatrist that I was a solipsist, of course he could have come back with "Then why are you telling me that/" which would have run into an endless loop. But either he was unfamiliar with the word or he was too smart to engage me or he in fact did not exist and I was just talking to myself,
Either way, as the Beatles sang
"I am you and you are me and we are all together"
I am the walrus KOO KOO KATCHOOO

Thanks for the info Pandora. It does seem like a lot of people, (maybe its just my age and and place in life), are asking a lot more questions and finding more answers for themselves, here and in my non-digital world Pleased .

Haha, I love philosophies that seem to make things like that happen. The concepts of fear and irony are pretty much what's inspiring me to pursue literature and journalism right now instead of the sciences.
