This was posted on the Shroomery, and I figured that it oughta be posted here as well;

Some intern has to look at it. It won't do anything for our cause really, but it may get some positive attention.

Signed and posted on facebook.

I don't know that it will go anywhere even if it gets enough signatures but it would be nice to see it hit 25k anyway.

I shared it on Facebook with a couple of my groups. I would suggest others share it to the best of their abilities.

so are you saying that we shouldn't try to change that?

I'm not under the impression that this has any chance of passing, but I think it's time to start making a little more noise. Last year many people told me that marijuana would never be legalized in the next 5-10 years, and lo and behold it has been legalized in my state.

I'm sure it has already occurred to Joe Rogan that it would be nice if psychedelics were legal. From what I understand, the medical community, which should be the first to have a say on the topic (seeing how these substances were scheduled because they're supposedly bad for you) never supported the ban.

The government couldn't legalize drugs if they wanted to, until a major shift in public opinion takes place. They demonized them for so long that at this point, anyone who proposed legalization of a schedule 1 substance would, most likely, promptly be voted out of the office.

Look at Obama: it's hard to believe the guy has an issue with weed, after admitting that he inhaled often, and promising more tolerant policies. However, he turned out to be worse than Bush when he sensed that he could get more votes for his second term by being against legalization. Now that he's been reelected, let's hope he'll have the decency to leave it alone and not interfere with the process of legalization in the states that chose to do that.

If this petition reaches 25,000 signatures then the white house has to officially respond to it. They will probably have some bloated DEA toad reply that they are dangerous drugs and leave it at that, but it does at least force them to acknowledge it and begin the dialogue about it.

Do you know if any of them have a Youtube page? Maybe you could post some messages on the videos where they discuss DMT never know if it could help out or not.

If 2 people sign it and pass it on to 2 other people who sign it and so on, then there would be 2^(n+1)-2 signatures on the nth day. So it would take 13-14 days to get 25000 signatures. There are approximately 19 days left. Seems like a piece of cake, but who can say.

And then I doubt that 25000 signatures is enough effect the drug control situation in any significant way. Maybe a million, but not 25000.
Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

Maybe, just maybe if we get enough support, this could be the global consciousness that is being predicted

LOL a whitehouse petition? Those are 100% worthless and retarded. All that's going to do if it reaches 25,000 is bring more federal attention to DMT and lesser known psychedelics.

While I'm sort of on the fence on what good, if any, it would do to wave petitions in their face... I think we need to stay focused on ONE substance. I think DMT, given it's existence and creation by our own bodies would be a good place to start. Screaming about legalizing everything is going to be counter productive to the cause.

Making a case for DMT, given it currently has no "street" presence or can be seen to cause any of the damage that other drugs cause (both socially and physically) I think makes it a really good candidate to push. I really want to know their justification for outlawing something that most people have never heard of, is produced by every human naturally, etc... Why is this a schedule 1 drug? What are they trying to keep us from? Given the effects of fluoridation on the pineal, it seems pretty obvious.

I posted this on reddit last night which got it quite a bit of attention. But it's still at less then 1k signatures. The petition itself is poorly worded and I think that's put a lot of people off.

Anyway, even if it gets 25k signatures it won't, alone, change anything. But I feel we need to start having this conversation, as a nation, in order for things to change. And this is another place for the conversation to take place (this being the petition).

If it fails, I may look at starting a new one, with a bit better wording so its easier for people to get behind.
