thanks so much for taking the time to post this,
Moonshine I've actually been working on a very similar ethanol method for acacia with good results. Though I hadn't thought of making a cake to store... great idea mate! Also, if living in a country where the weight of bark is simply considered dmt, this could be a safe route for people to take legally
I agree alcohol is very underrated in extraction.. its a lot more efficient than acidic water.. though heat seems to be just as effective. The good thing about not heating the material too much though, especially with mhrb is the preservation of other alkaloids that are destroyed at high temperatures, such as yuramamine.. this might mean that the cake may be orally active, especially if the ethanol were slowly evaporated, rather than via heat
This sounds like a great way to get full spectrum extract, as the solvent step is bypassed
Oh, and don't breathe in methanol fumes! see the referance below from wikipedia:
Quote:"Methanol is toxic by two mechanisms. Firstly, methanol (whether it enters the body by ingestion, inhalation, or absorption through the skin) can be fatal due to its CNS depressant properties in the same manner as ethanol poisoning
