Yesterday I took about 20 mg freebase harmine sublingual and a few hours later I tried smoking 30 mg (that was quite a dose). Didn't eat afterwards. Anyway I went to sleep and this morning I woke up and felt very very nauseas. Got diarrea++ and had to throw up multiple times (starting with darkgreen bile and ending with clean stomach fluid). Also I felt very dizzy and couldn't drink without having to throw up again. I haven't been ill in years and right now, just after sunset, I am starting to feel okay again. Spent the day sleeping though it off. (it reminds me somewhat of the kambo frog, it has a similar effect - just being this will make you feel very good, while right now I just feel okay)
The only thing I did yesterday was harmine and some cannabis, and well I ate during the day. Is there any connection here? I feel like this is because I overdosed a bit, that the MAOi interfered with food digestion leading to a food-poisoning, but can I be sure about this or am I dead wrong?

It sounds like this may be a mild case of serotonin syndrome, although I can't say for sure. But if that's the case the best thing you can do is just wait out the symptoms. They should go away as the MAOI gets out of your system. If they get more severe, however, I suggest that you seek medical advice.

Those effects are similar to what I experience when I take doses towards the upper limit of my dosing range for harmalas. If you didn't take any meds, it may be what you ate, or it could just be that this is how sensitive you are to harmalas. I have friends who, at 200mg oral, are completely body drunk, dizzy, vomiting, having visuals etc. because of how sensitive they are. I have friends who, at 200mg oral, are completely body drunk, dizzy, vomiting, having visuals etc. because of how sensitive they are. After I made the post things went a little up and down. I didn't had to vomit anymore and gradually things started to settle down. However I had a fever during the night and felt really awful, both mentally and physically. I can't imagine it weren't the harmalas. It was something like la purga I guess. On the one hand the symptoms could be described as moderate food poisoning, on the other hand there was definite sense of purging some really bad stuff - spiritually. And no, meds are not the case. Also I dosed 1,5 hours after I took the last meal that day. Guess it's both sensitivity and what I ate (like fish & yoghurt). Guess the food restrictions do apply after a certain dose. Good to know, good it is passing away.

I may be wrong here, but 20mg sublingual shouldn't even really exert any effect on the DMT experience at all a few hours later, however 30mg DMT is quite the dose either way. Fish and yogurt would probably give me diarrhea regardless of harmine or DMT. [edit]: I think I misunderstood. I thought you smoked 30mg DMT later, not harmine. Either way, I've never had the effects of smoked harmine (sublingual at such a low dose) persist for so long after ingestion. If it was 200mg sublingual which is around the dose necessary for oral activation of DMT, it would make more sense. "Science without religion is lame. Because it is a type of poisoning sometimes associated with high doses of MAOIs and symptoms can include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. I know these symptoms can be common with harmalas anyway but I've personally never experienced them so long after ingestion. But then again, it's probably just my hypochondria speaking. I hope you're feeling good neurohack.

the flu does not last for 1 day, there is no "24 hour flu" even though people like to say there is. Influenza lasts for a week or so. If you have the "flu" for 1 day its a bacteria thing..so unless you ate some food that had gone bad..cus that can feel similar to harmalas sickness for me at times. Sounds identical to how I have felt before with harmalas..especially vaped rue harmalas. 30mg of harmalas is a large dose to vape IME and would sure as hell make me sick for a good while. In short, yes I have woken up sick the morning after a couple time. ...and yes 20mg sublingual would definatly have some effect on me if I smoked harmalas a couple hours later. Global you cant compare sublingual or oral either..20-30mg sublingual is enough ot activate sublingual DMT and cause effects on it's own. 20mg sublingual is probly comparable to 200mg oral. This is NOT seratonin syndrom..unless you are taking SSRI's or MDMA?? I think yu overassume the food restrictions and underestimate how sick harmalas can make you feel. Long live the unwoke.

Please do more researching before you make statements like this here..anyone familiar with the literature surrouding harmalas should know that this sort of sickness can be very common to harmalas without having to invoke ideas of seratonin syndrom. I get that you are just trying to help, but it is just something that people tend to claim over and over again without any real evidence. Harmalas make people sick..I have been sick for 48 hours before from a large dose. Long live the unwoke.
