I know I've brought this up somewhere before but I can't find it and I don't think it got much attention anyway, so sorry for making another thread but I would really like to get a conversation about this started. I've been experiencing a very strange sensation while on DMT, mushrooms, and immediately after waking up. The sensation is the same every time regardless of the substance or lack there of; it feels as if there is a surge of energy building inside my body and then zapping or intensely vibrating inside my brain. The zap doesn't hurt and actually kind of feels good, but it is somewhat shocking (no pun intended) and very powerful. It only lasts for a split second and comes on very quickly with little or no warning. Sometimes I will even see a small flash of light. The first time I experienced this was while smoking changa, it has happened to me at least three or four times after smoking changa or pure DMT since then. The second time I felt it was right after waking up in the middle of the night, I had just woken from a dream and was laying there getting ready to fall back asleep when I felt the exact same zap that I had felt previously on DMT! The last time I felt this was the other night when I decided to take a very small dose of ps. semilanceata. I took about .7g in a tea and was lying in bed when all of a sudden I started to feel this immense energy building inside my body, sort of like when you get the chills from a really good song or a building orgasm or something but much more intense. The building of the energy lasted maybe a second when it shot up my spine and gave me the brain zap again! I had the same thing happen about three times during the experience. I would really like to hear if anyone has experienced this sensation or if anyone knows of any sort of medical condition or qui flow or whatever that could be causing this. It is VERY intriguing to me that it happens with both DMT and 4-OH-DMT as well as during the night immediately after waking, I wonder what the link is here? Sounds a lot like an SSRI issue http://en.wikipedia.org/...discontinuation_syndromehttp://www.psychologytod.../fireworks-or-brain-zapsPerhaps your 'usage' is causing a temporary shift in brain function...? I was just about to edit my post to say that it is very similar sounding to SSRI withdrawal and I am wondering if it has something to do with DMT and psilocin being 5-HT2A agonists and somehow causing a downregulation of serotonin. I am extremely ill equipped on the subject and only know bits and pieces of what I have found on the web. It would be awesome if someone with knowledge on the subject could chime in ![Very happy](/forum/images/emoticons/grin.png) I still wonder what it means if I am experiencing these during the night? I am not on any SSRI or any prescription drugs, I'm hoping this isn't a bad thing 'Little spider weaves a wispy web, stumblin' through the woods it catches to my head. She crawls behind my ear and whispers secrets. Dragonfly whiz by and sings now teach it.'

(Probably a daft question but)Would you be willing to abstain for a few months to see if it went away? I'm sure Dr.Corpus will have an opinion(stop laughing)Please do not PM tek related questions Reserve the right to change your mind at any given moment.

I would be willing to stop to see what happens the thing is, I don't experience them on a regular basis while sober. It is only the odd occasion when I wake up at night and feel them. I am pretty sure that I have felt them on nights when I haven't taken any DMT at all, also I don't use DMT that often, I vape a few doses maybe four times a month...hard to say. Actually I do take melatonin occasionally, that may be a factor in the night zaps. I'm not sure if I have felt them on those nights though, I will have to stop taking it and see what happens or keep a schedule of when I take it and see if they come back. (Haha, I just noticed I posted about taking kanna in another thread which is an SSRI. I haven't taken kanna in a long time though so it definitely isn't a factor in this case) 'Little spider weaves a wispy web, stumblin' through the woods it catches to my head. Wax wrote:I was just about to edit my post to say that it is very similar sounding to SSRI withdrawal Reading your description of what you're experiencing sounds very similar to when I was weaning off of SSRI meds, I used to call them 'brain zaps', mostly just a nuisance, some unpleasant. One of the SSRIs that I had taken (forget which anymore) the withdraw as directed by my doctor got so bad that the 'brain zaps' that I would experience would not only have me seeing flashes of light, but also a corresponding ringing in the ears, so glad I finally got off of those things. I would definitely see if it has any correlation to the melatonin, perhaps some kind of interaction? But discontinuing dmt to see if symptoms subside is a definite start. A dramatic shift approaches...

WEM, I know for a fact that DMT and mushrooms are causing them because I experience them on the come down or during the experiences and never throughout the rest of my day. I have a feeling that the brain zaps that I feel at night are not connected with DMT or mushroom use, I may be wrong but it seems like they happen independent of my use. It may very well be due to occasional use of melatonin but after last night I'm not so sure. Last night I woke up and felt the zaps, they were pretty mild this time but obviously there. I took .7g of liberty caps about three days ago and last night was the first night I felt the zaps since I felt them during the mushroom session. Thanks for the help, I will abstain from any melatonin use and (try) to abstain from DMT and mushrooms for a while and keep this thread updated with the status of the nighttime zaps. I'm not the person to do it, but I'm surprised that nobody has suggested that your "Kundalini is awakening" or something along those lines. You did mention qui flow. I guess it has only been two days since you posted. Every day I am thankful that I was introduced to psychedelic drugs.

I've experienced ssri withdraws 11 years ago, and they didn't feel like the zap I got a few months back when falling asleep. It made and audible CRACK!, I felt like I got shocked, (which I'm well experienced with lol) and my whole body convulsed. It felt like being struck in the brain with lightning. Dunno if that helps. Well, y'know, it's like this experience that I had was like, y'know, erm, it was kind of the most profound experience I've had in me life, like

Well I haven't used melatonin since before posting this and have only smoked a very small amount of salvia changa (just as a bed for some harmine I wanted to smoke) and have been eating a bite of pot brownie every night. I have to say I am still feeling the occasional zap at night.... I will give it a while longer but I have some ps. cyanescens that are calling my name, so I don't know how much longer I can abstain from psychs ![Very happy](/forum/images/emoticons/grin.png) It really isn't too worrying, but something is definitely going on in the ol' noggin.
