I was reading an article today on a popular gadget site, Gizmodo, about how it is possible to infuse flavors into alcohol using a whip cream dispenser and nitrous cartridge. by adding the fruit to the alcohol and pouring into the dispensor, the pressure of the nitrous causes the alcohol to enter the cells of the fruit and then the release of the pressure causes it to pull out the flavors. I was curious if this same technique might be used to pull alcohol soluble alkaloids out of the cell walls of other types of plants. I know DMT would be much to complicated, but what about LSA alkaloids from hbwr or morning glory. haha if nothing else, you could always empty the gas into a balloon and still have a good time but if it were possible, it could make the extraction much faster, and maybe more effective. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? has anyone every tried using pressure to cause reactions to happen faster in the extraction of alkaloids?

This is a very interesting concept. I have something somewhat similar to add... I saw a demo at Cabela's they used a foodsaver attached to a vac container. By using meat + marinade in the vacuum it greatly speeds up the process of the marinade from overnight to 10-15min. Would have to make sure you have a vac with proper combustion rating I believe not a big science guy D:

i see no reason it wouldn't work.

you might be able to swap solvents with this as well(vinegar water + plant material for a quick pressure brew / basified material and solvent for extract).

the potential seems awesome, if i wasn't having serious monetary concerns, i would definitely purchase this to try it out.

it looks like it is mostly stainless steel so it may be resistant to serious solvents (but maybe not).

if this does work, it seems like an awesome method to brew/extract.
