Hi everyone, as you can see i'm new in this forum (eventhough i've been reading this site for a while).
I've seen in this (and in other sites) that these kind of drugs (dmt, ayahuasca, and others) tend to awake some sort of psychic abilities such as Telepathy, Clairvoyance, Psychokinesis, Astral projection and others. I've also read some books about this. My question is, why does this happen? why these plants awake these kind of abilities?. I think they even can give you give you enlightenment.

These plants awake the "perception that people have these kind of abilities", not necessarily (or at all?) that they actually do. At least in some cases it's most definitely an illusion.
It's important to have some critical thinking, because otherwise you'll believe at face value whatever seems real in a trip, and very often perceptions are mistaken (just like when you're 'straight', optical illusions also exist, for example).
We've had many discussions on enlightenment, try the search function. Not to get into the discussion what is enlightenment and does it really exist, but the basic idea we try to spread around here is that substances by themselves dont cause enlightenment, that they merely give you a glimpse of things from another perspective and that you can potentially use that for your self-development. But it is you who must do the work to improve after the experience is over, to integrate it (check our health and safety section)

Psychedelics certainly made me aware of my psychic abilities. They can unlock many things in the mind. Some good, and some bad. As stated above, one must practice a healthy level of skepticism. Much of the experiences are mind manifested, while some of it may be a result of external sources. There is much thought that can be put into this, but it is best to start off by simply observing the internal dialogue that occurs. At first sight, The Perfection of Wisdom is bewildering, full of paradox and apparent irrationality.

I second the notion of our esteemed Psychonaught Endlessness, DMT is a microscope for looking into different realms and brain/consciousness/worldly functions we have yet to understand. It can put you at peace with things and answer questions, but for me it seems the more I learn the more questions I have! The fact is we just don't know anything really, we don' know what enlightenment is or what Psi abilities really are at this point in time (from a scientific/realistic standpoint). Take everything with a grain of salt my friend, look at everything from every possible stand point you can. and ALWAYS remember what Andre Gide said! "Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it. Science has proven Psi function is real in the human consciousness, just do some searching on random number generators by the PEARlabs at Princeton. They saw that willing ones or zeroes to appear more often gives undeniable effects 100% of the time as many times and as much distance they can put between people and the generators. There are also many other similar small scale experiments you can do like emotion on water freezing structure and plants. These are indisputable scientific FACTS. What they tell us is that at our current state we have very weak "Psi" abilities. I could get into my own personal speculations on this subject and other theories but I will leave that up to you to form for yourself. What I can tell you however is we are all connected, and i'm not saying that on a spiritual level. All of everything in this world originated from the same matter and energy at one point (big bang, singularity etc.). And because we are all from the same material/energy and made up of the same exact materials/energy, we and everything in this world from an atom to human society share the same principals and habits/tendencies/goals/properties etc. The properties of the smallest known particles and energy in the world (google the standard model). This is scientific fact show by quantum mechanics and merely observing the world around you, its easy to see. DMT and other methods can make you more aware, but from what we have learned in the long run smoking the spice and doing other hallucinogens over a prolonged period wont make you more telekinetic or Psychic. If that were true Terance McKenna would have been a damn wizard. Use these tools the world has provided us to learn. If we aren't learning and asking questions about these things we will never figure anything out. Remember my friend by taking these steps and coming here and asking these questions you have joined the battle to help humankind become transcendent. I thank you and wish you the best of luck in this battle with us. PM me any time - Sirus "A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive." (Albert Einstein, 1954)

Terence Mckenna IS a wizard, and everything you see in dmt space is real, more real than our sphere of perception will ever be,so we can go there to realise ourselves, wich in turn connects us to the source, the universe, and makes telepathy, shapeshifting and divining, easy peacy.Meaning it comes natural to us,things that before was thought of as impossible. Patience and integration of these mindbending experiences is one serious part of developing these shamanic powers.

Too much talking in absolutes there. How do you know everything you see when smoking DMT is "real", and what do you even mean by "real" ? Also please avoid saying something that is your belief as if it is a fact. Also, this seems possibly naive and even dangerous to spread such ideas. If someone thinks for example "they can fly", or if entities tell the person they should kill themselves, should they also believe that "its real, more real than perception" etc ? Also to claim telepathy and shapeshifting and other such things, how did you prove to yourself it exists? How was the experiment set up? Did you consider alternative explanations such as, self-suggestion, perceptual illusion, mind-trip but not actually occuring, maybe just getting in tune with the present moment and making good calculations but not actually predicting/telepathy, etc etc, or did you straight away assume that all you seem to experience is exactly as it seems?

I have noticed a slight increase in my intuitive abilities. I'm not so sure that the ability has an increased, but my awareness that has increased. And in many different ways. I am more aware of my own inner thoughts and functions of my emotions. I think we mix up te idea of psychic abilities, as well as others, with actual brain functions that work on a level we don't quite understand yet. For instance, I have witnessed my intuitive functions work so well that I actually pull out knowledge that I myself didn't know, about someone else's depressive motives. With this particular situation my ability to feel empathy worked in conjunction with my intuitive abilities to "calculate" this new information. Someone who isn't being fully aware, or atleast quite aware, of there own brain functions while they happen, would automatically attribute this to having psychic abilities. The person that I was talking to didn't even know this about themself as well. They also would automatically attribute this to reading minds. Yet basically what happened is this. Being aware of patterns in ones behavior can tell you many things about them. Also knowing atleast a little about there past will give you an idea of major patterns they follow psychologically. Given these two models you can get a basic idea of how their personality reacts in certain situations accordin to different events going on coupled with their own view on such things. I'm not psychic, I'm just good at automatically calculating such things. And by me paying more attention to this "mode" I get into sometimes, allows me to learn how to do it on purpose. I haven't perfected it by any means, but I can usually tell when it's about to happen. Things become more clear, I am able to articulate words smoothly and efficiently without many hang ups or stutters and I usually figure things out on a different intellectual level than normal. It's like being "in the zone" and It works for many different things. "Energy flows where attention goes" [Please review the forum Wiki and FAQ before posting questions]

Thanks for saying what I was about to Endlessness I meant that McKenna isn't a telepath or a telekinetic due to prolonged use of Entheogens. Although i'm sure he was on a way higher level than I can currently comprehend about consciousness. like I said before take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt, always have a serious rope tied around your waste to your normal state of being for emergencies ( reality breaks and psychosis aren't fun ). Always be scientific, but most of all be positive and secular. "A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. Interesting thread. I ended up on this forum when I found out that after many years of practicing astral projection I finally got a breakthrough and that the release of DMT from the brain causes this. I'm still a regular member on AstralDynamics.com and wondered if the spice has a similar effect and consciousness to the hard way. Before I was interested in all this I had very little intuition and didn't bother at all. I have found out that after dedicated practice for over 5 years my intuition has shot up dramatically and I experience more de-ja-vu than usual. I still yet to try the spice when I get a chance of prepping it. From the testimonials I have read if does sound very familiar the the higher astral (possibly causal) plane. @Sirius. Are you into the whole chaos magick paradigm? The theory of drugs being dangerous and lethal developed a hole when Keith Richards was born.

Its impossible to say whether these things exist or not so any answer to this would ultimately be pointless. However I would like to say that it is my belief that many 'psychic' abilities and experiences one may have can be attributed to a highly developed intuition, which can be honed by learning more about oneself. Then it should be no surprise that any person given such a powerful tool to learn about themselves as DMT should find themselves more sensitive to, and in tune with those around them. Of course I do believe that there is more to life than meets the eye, but healthy skepticism is important. So until someone reads my thoughts, starts a fire with their mind or predicts the lottery numbers I am going to remain something of an agnostic on these matters. Changes come. Keep your dignity. Take the high road. Take it like a man.

Solar sailor, i'm not actually a worshiper of chaos magik. I do believe in the collective power of human consciousness and willpower. And I like this symbol because it reminds me of the chaos theory, that everything is random except for choice. A single choice can change the universe, its all we have to win against the chaos. Look up the chaos theory its very interesting and a lot of math and science behind it. Edit: Watched that video, gotta love a good propaganda film. The US Army did a research on emotions and your own DNA if you want to learn stick with facts. Hallucinogens produce an effect by causing your brain to do something its already capable of that's how ALL drugs work. Whether its meth or LSD your brain and body are Capable of feeling that way because "drugs" bind to receptor sites and either prevent the re-uptake, or antagonize your neural pathways in a way to trick your brain into having these effects. Of course I am no neurological or chemical doctor so even my view on this is taken from what I have learned and read on these subjects. Start out slow look up these things on encyclopedias where the government inst in control and form your own scientific nonsecular opinions. Then try to melt your opinions with others to form a better understanding. That is how we will evolve and beat this ignorance that is the world today. For me, as I have more experience with acid than DMT, I'd say LSD awakened....something. Based on my experience, even while sober, when you have a "psychic" intuition, there is no doubt at all. It's just a knowing. A visceral, bodily knowing. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's really quite spooky.
