So excited.

I've got about 100 cactus in various stages of growth, from 6 inches to pushing 3 ft.
Last week one of my mid size guys sprouted 5 pups on the same day from the same spot at the base! This is cool, but I'm a little worried, 3 of them are literally right on top of each other...how are they going to grow up without bumping into each other? Will they grow around or get stunted? Should I try to direct the growth?

Went out this morning to check things out and one of my smallest cactus maybe 7 inches, had a pup, but it's coming from the top!? Maybe only 3 aeroles down, I've never seen growth like this before, even in pictures.

I thought pups only grew after a cut or from older cactus, these guys are small and barely 3 years?

They are seed grown, don't know if that means much, o, and they are bridgesii.

Thanks,
D

sometimes cacti pup unexpectedly, but you may have a witches broom infection running around your garden. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Witch%27s_broom it can be fatal to cacti if left untreated.
