Okay so I've been talking with a lot of helpfull members in the Chat room. I think Im almost ready for round 2. But I like to share and discuss different evap/precip methods to minimize risk of loss of product. It seams a few folks had some issues with this. I have a good idea on what to do, but I'd like to know what some more of the experienced members say. Any advice or tips are welcome. Ive been getting opinions about this in the chat room, asking different users, but its a bit much to explain my situation every time i try to get new/other opinions etc. so I'm making this to help consolidate ideas etc, unique to my situation.
Previous situation:
q21q21 with Naptha was used.
62g's of MHRB were used
62ml of solvent were used.
So After doing three pulls, we placed the Pyrex tray in the freezer, and secured it with saran rap and rubber band. after 4 hours nothing formed, so the next day, we checked and were happy to see plenty of circular wight structures attached to the glass. At that point we poured off the naptha into a container, then I took it outside in 80degrees Southern California weather, then the frost, naptha and crystal structures redissolved back into a liquid form, then slid down the tray onto a towel (tray was upside down). I was like WTF?...then we did three more pulls and placed it back into the freezer, we checked the next day only a few wight circular structures appeared, we poured out the naptha again, and scraped out the structures, and placed it into a small glass container and took it upstairs to evap off eccsess naptha, it turned into a yellowish goo that was sticky, no recrystallization happened, I still have this goo, but its a very small amount.
So that's were im at, I tried to find some threads about the evap/precip but I haven't found anything that answered my question. I really want to understand the process before attempting this again, so if you have links, that i missed or personal advice you can give me, in your own words, id greatly appreciate it.
Tips anything....I want to do this the best possible way.
