Ideally, next to water of course, methanol would be the best alcohol to pull the natural salts of mescaline from plant material, correct?

I want to avoid the hassle of goop/swelling with water making a tea, but don't think iso is a very effective way to make resin. I can't get ethanol, but methanol is available. I also know its the most polar of the alcohols, so should be a better solvent than etoh, iso, and most of all acetone. I understand how careful you have to be with methanol and am confident i can handle it safely.

The plan is to base the resin with caoh and pull with acetone then fasa it to get the fumarates. Whether i do it via a tea resin, or methanol resin. I was just wondering if anyone had any expirence doing this, or if my speculations about the viability of using methanol are correct.

Thanks-

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...

you wont end up with nice xtals, itll be a tar

iso resin works well btw.
have you tried acetone bombing a tea to remove excess mass? the resin from it is 2-3x what it wouldve been even with finely filtered tea

I'd use iso, i just figure that since meoh is ~35% more polar (33 dielectric constant vs. iso's 18 ) it would work better w/ less solvent used. Water, for comparison has a DE of 80. Gooey isn't an issue for me. Slimy tea is, and thats why I'd rather not use water at all.

But you could prob get rid of some of the alcohol pulled goo if you dissolved the meoh/etoh/iso resin in hot water, filtered and evaped the water. Tars, fats, oils, etc should not be soluble while the alkaloid salts are very soluble. Might just add that step to see how it works.

Can anyone speak as to the effectiveness of wet alcohol resin extractions, and what the ratio it was, did you notice swelling at X% water to alcohol, etc? Ideally if you could get away with an amount of water in the alcohol with out swelling perhaps it would make the mixed solvent more polar and pull the salts better, perhaps with less goo as well.

using 91% ipa and 95% etoh didnt cause the cactus powder to swell when i tried this a few years back.
