Today I had to make the choice to put my dog down.

He was playing fetch with some kids and like usual he went till he was gasping for air ( german shorthair labrador mix, you bet he was a nut) I guess it was a little too hot for him today and he got heatstroke. I had to take him to the emergency vet, his condition slowly deteriorated and they called me saying that he was looking bad and it was going to cost me 2-$3000 just to try to help him, not to mention he could have had further complications even if he did get better. I feel like shit for putting a price on a creatures life but I really couldn't afford it and I didn't want him to suffer.

I'm happy for him that he will be returning to the source and laughing his ass off at the cosmic joke but also feel horrible for losing a loyal companion and also a bit shocked at how insignificant the circumstances leading up to this were.

It is sort of ironic that he actually did fetch till he died like I have joked about many times.

Please keep your pets and yourself cool when it is hot, heatstroke is serious business. RIP Nigel

Sorry to hear that mate a friend of mines had to move her dog further up the country here in Vietnam because the dog couldnt cope with the heat, he would have died eventually the vets said, hes now happy in a cooler part of the country.

Feel your pain as Ive lost two dogs the last 18 months, had them for 16 years sad times, funny was just talking about them in another thread ten minutes ago. Im sure he's happy in the astral Wink
