Previously I had been making changa with 20x caapi, recently though I bought some rue and went about extracting harmalas and made changa. I personally do not think I really care for it, Ive had several negative experiences with it, and had decided I was going to take a break from DMT. However, I gave my caapi changa one last try and had an incredible journey, very welcoming as if hyperspace was waving to me and telling me how much it missed me, lol.

Anyway, back to my question, I've been giving my partner the rue extracted harmala changa since I don't want to do it. His first go of the night is around 20 mins, and hes back completely. Each time after this though he stays under for an hour or more. We have another friend who journeys with us occasionally and does not have incredibly long experiences like this, and neither have I. He swears he is not sleeping, some times he will come back and open his eyes 25-30 mins into it and say he is still deep into it and close them for another 30 mins or so. Other times hes just totally out for an hour, some times close to 2 hours.

I am just wondering if this is 'normal' or if he has some kind of super sensitivity to the rue harmalas? Neither me or our friend experience this, nor did he when we were only smoking the caapi changa. Is it 'safe' for him to continue doing this..? Anyone else have this happen? Seems like hes going for longer and longer each time and its a little concerning.

hello Kittenkat

i cant say i have experienced this myself as i havent smoked much changa, so i cant really help regarding the duration.

whats the ratio of the changa? and what was the dosage?

i would guess that the reason the journeys get longer each time is due to the hamala build up. It would be interesting to give your friend a single hit of the changa to start with and then follow that with just DMT and see if the journeys still continue to increase in duration.

Not sure you are going to find "NORMAL" when treading in these waters!!!

I am certifiably insane, as such all posts written by me should be regarded as utter nonsense or attempts to get attention by using totally fictitious verbiage...........

The above refers to the fictitious 'I'

Thanks for the quick reply 3rdI,
The changa is 1:1 ratio with 150-200 mgs of harmalas mixed in... Usually go for about 50-60mg sized doses. I was considering doing this next time, just a cone of changa to start him off(or predosing with the harmalas alone) and then only fb afterwards. I am just really curious as I have not read anywhere about anyone else experiencing an hour long journey with vaping. Also wondering if anyone knew why it would be affecting him in this way and no one else. Just seems a little odd. ^_^

It seems that different people require different doses of harmalas to reach the same level of MAO inhibition. I hypothesize this is due to varying levels of enzyme activity in the body and/or variations in body chemistry in general. I have done some work with harmalas and I notice that I require somewhat larger doses to achieve the same effect as others and the effects also tend to diminish faster than others report. It makes sense that if the normal, everyday MAO activity in the body is greater, more MAOI is required for complete inhibition and the duration of the inhibition is shorter.

If you take a look at the Harmala vaporization notes thread (https://www.dmt-nexus.me/forum/default.aspx?g=posts&t=32295) various people require fairly substantial differences in doses to achieve the same effects. Your friend might be more sensitive to harmalas than the average person is so a dose from the changa results in longer inhibition yielding the hour (or longer) experience.

I have tried changa with a ratio of approximately 1:1:1 herb:spice:harmalas. That means I will vaporize only around 25 mg of harmalas with every 25 mg of DMT. With that dosage, even sub-breakthrough experiences last in my case for at least 40 minutes, and I'd say the last time I still had pretty clear CEV after an hour of administration.

As said, different metabolisms might react differently to equal levels or harmalas. The effect of the harmalas depends on dosage AND your particular chemistry. Diet, other chemicals... In my case, I've often thought that smoking tobacco, for instance, was a factor to extend and intensify the experience, since tobacco contains MAO inhibitors as well.
