So, about 3 years ago I reached mine. I was up for about two days, or three, lets say 2-4, somewhere in there and I reached a point where my mind turned on me. Lets say I was on a mixture of a few different things at that point and I remember suddenly going from feeling fantastic to, well, thinking my friends were trying to kill me. I have to say since this point I've had a bit of hesitation with the hallucinatory libations. Luckily this doens't keep me from doing them. Smile

The last few times i've tried mushrooms, it's been a little different. I'm sort of on edge during and now i'm a bit nervous that this kind of thing is going to keep happening.

Anyone else have any experience with this? If this happened to you, have you found it has subsided over time?

PS Let me be clear that this wasn't just a "bad trip" in the sense I felt funny and off, this was more like if Zombies were to attack... will you were on mushrooms... I feel like my brain crossed a wire.

The mind is a powerful thing.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hey Mate

If the usual factors like set & setting and dose don't seem to help the problem, the only thing I would suggest is that it could be your own mind.
I've had periods of time in my life where mushrooms just would not agree with me, I could be in the most comfortable place in the world and take a very reasonable dose and still end up spending the whole time trying to get over the weird feelings and anxiety.

I could be wrong, and this is just my opinion, but I would suggest giving them a rest for a bit, give your mind sometime to work itself out, it might be stress or something Smile

Hey Quinn. You could be right. Thats definitely similar to how I feel This has happened over the last few years since that event. Maybe I just need to shake it off and relax or try something like mediating beforehand to center my mind. Or... Laying off a bit wouldn't hurt either Smile
Although, I don't do them too often.

Thanks for you response.

Not a problem, it's tough when you don't understand what's going on, just respect the fact that psychadelics are a learning experience.
Maybe you've just learnt all you can from mushrooms for the time being Smile

First of all, continue using only if you really want to and are willing to face the risks. You might also want to experiment with different psychedelics in case you are interested in psychedelic experience but have no interest in using the mushroom due to bad experience(which I think is totally normal and reasonable). I suggest you use "sitter" when or if you decide to use psychedelic drugs, it can help alot in case of bad one.

It can be tough to get back into it after a real rough one. Low doses are good for this sometimes. A lot of mental prep helps to, and clarifying your intentions. I would meditate do yoga and write a lot leading up to it and pay careful attention to set/setting while remembering not to take anything too seriously. Courage humility humor and love! It's good to keep in mind that psychedelics can put us in a state of hyper-active imagination, and this combined with the hyper-suggestibility that occurs on them can be a tricky thing at times and lead to delusions/paranoia

Good luck in whatever you decide to do

Yeah after working night shifts a lot and not getting out as much i started to suffer anxiety.

And after a few panic attacks and some really horrible trips i only trip when i am in the mood *FEELING it.

I am a lot better now, getting into these uncomfortable situations more often helped me a lot.

At times i used to get paranoid when i would get in tune with people you know knowing what they are going to say and stuff that is normal when on a roll. It was from being shut in too often i think paranoid i knew it the whole time though that it was just paranoia, but the feeling is hard to shunt off.

EDIT: Some times it's more like a mid week crises Razz

@Quinn "Maybe you've just learnt all you can from mushrooms for the time being" Good perspective man. Smile

@ tele I guess when you're pushing your boundaries with things like psychedelics these kind if things can be part of the deal and I have to accept that. I have decided to try some others and I have been interested in cacti as of lately for this reason.

@universecannon "Courage humility humor and love!" Well said Smile I can definitely take things too seriously sometimes, maybe this was the mushrooms showing me that. I've got some work to do Pleased

@ sidefx "I am a lot better now, getting into these uncomfortable situations more often helped me a lot." Glad to hear it, and that is probably a good way for me to think of this situation. Even the horrible trip taught me to respect my mind and my limits and that's a good thing.

Thanks for all you input. I'm going to try some unfamiliar substances and also make an effort to center my intentions before taking the plunge. I'm hopeful Smile

Always remain hopeful, and you should definitely try other psychedelics (only if you feel the calling though) Don't force yourself to have an experience unless your truly ready which I know first hand can ruin the experience entirely. Start with small doses and if you feel you can go deeper slowly work your way up. SWIM has had lots of experiences with psychedelics where he has learned so much about himself and others. SWIM has had history of overusing sometimes and has became detached from reality from doing so. When you have that perfect trip that changes your life it's easy to get obsessed over it. Embrace every positive experience you have and don't just go chasing that "euphoria" that can sometimes come with these things.
"I embrace my desire to feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human" -Tool
"Spiral out... Keep going...

@ misterfractal "When you have that perfect trip that changes your life it's easy to get obsessed over it." - I can totally relate to this. It's easy to figure that you'll have a trip like that every time but often that isn't the case. I think it's easy to overlook what you learn on a trip too if you're always trying to compare it to another one. You know?

Totally glad I posted this here, definitely getting some good perspectives. Thanks!

There's no need to push oneself to it but do it from 100% free will.

Can you elaborate on that? Are you saying one should not have the intentions of pushing the boundaries of the mind?
