I have a friend who has a bad case of psoriasis. He also has hepatitis c, and other medical conditions. He was being given Enbrel for his psoriatic arthritis, but his doctor discontinued treatment, saying that the drug was contraindicated due to the possibility of liver toxicity. The literature online seems to contradict this, and my friend has decided to continue with enbrel treatments in the near future.
In the meantime however, I provided him with a small amount of MHRB powder, which he mixed with water and applied to some troublesome spots of psoriasis. He has had very little relief from itching, using prescribed topical medicines (some of which are incredibly expensive). He will scratch the itchy spots until they bleed, even in his sleep and wake up with blood all over his sheets, and have open wounds to deal with.
Four days ago he mixed some MHRB powder with water and applied it to actively itchy areas of psoriasis. He reports TOTAL RELIEF for over a 24 hour period. He has re-applied with the same results! MHRB mixed with water is not an ideal vehicle for application, as it dries up and falls off. He tried mixing it with glycerine, which was a bit runny, so he tried some vaseline hand lotion instead, which seems to be keeping it in place.
This is of course not a cure for proriasis, but seems to work well for treating the itching. He plans to continue applying lotion to affected areas. I will report back with any further developments.

As a side note, I have tried MHRB powder on car scratches. I had to scratches side by side of approximately the same length and depth. I applied MHRB mixed with water to only one of these scratches. The one with MHRB not only scabbed over more quickly, but seemed to heal more quickly.

BTW That is very interesting results. I'd be curious to know how it turns out if he continues treatment. The more details the better!

Peace.

I was on Enbrel injections for several years for my psoriasis, which was pretty severe.

I'd definitely advise your friend to wean himself off the Enbrel. It does nothing to heal the disease in any way, but only temporarily suppresses symptoms. It also makes the immune system dependent on it, so that if one were to suddenly be cut off from Enbrel, one's psoriasis could worsen at a panic-inducing rate. Most people freak out and get right back on the Enbrel at that point but you eventually need to learn to go without it.

I still occasionally use small amounts of Luxiq steroid foam when I have a breakout on my face, but I'm working towards being able to go without that too.

There are many factors to consider when treating psoriasis holistically, but diet and stress are probably the primary lifestyle factors. For the former, lots of H20, fresh organic produce and no refined sugars or processed junk; for the latter, I recommend Cannabis.

For me the other major factor is ambient humidity & skin moisture content. Dry air is my enemy. I have had MUCH success with simply staying in a bath or shower long enough for the psoriasis to become soft so I can painlessly rub off the skin with my fingers. After drying off, I then apply a natural moisturizer like Shea Butter.

Doing this for the past several months has made a HUGE positive difference in the severity of my psoriasis, comfort levels and quality of life. It's been over a year since I've taken Enbrel, and normally i would expect to be in a living hell right now. Tell your friend!

There are many skin-soothing herbs that can be used in baths... i enjoy chamomile and yellow dock; MHRB would be great too! For baths it's best to boil the herbs in a gallon or two of water and then add that water to the bath.

After a month's stay in Peru, my psoriasis was reduced by about 50%, which was amazing. But when I returned to the Midwest US dry autumn & winter, it quickly got worse, so I started the protocol outlined above. And now, though it still looks bad, I'm otherwise quite comfortable.
This led me to realize that the moist tropical climate probably had as much benefit as the ayahuasca!

I also intend to try Kambo soon & hope to post some positive results!

Best of luck to your friend, psoriasis can be a real bitch !

Heres a good article which considers the underlying mechanisms of itching in psoriasis:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih....pmc/articles/PMC2221678/

It highlights how a 'simple' symptom can have so many aetilogical factors, and the contribution of each relative to the others will vary between patients. This, IMO, probably accounts for such varying responses to the different treatment options.

It doesnt surprise me that Mimosa bark will help in some individuals; merits closer investigation, IMO.

The OP mentions car scratches;Im guessing he means cat scratches, unless the powers of Mimosa include paint rejuvenating properties too! Smile
I am paranoid of my brain. It thinks all the time, even when I'm asleep. My thoughts assail me. Murderous lechers they are. Thought is the assassin of thought. Like a man stabbing himself with one hand while the other hand tries to stop the blade. Like an explosion that destroys the detonator. I am paranoid of my brain. It makes me unsettled and ill at ease. Makes me chase my tail, freezes my eyes and shuts me down. Watches me. Eats my head. It destroys me.

Other psoriasis-exacerbators to avoid:

red meat
alcohol
stimulants (including caffeine)
chocolate
dairy
wheat
spicy foods
& for some people, vegetables of the Solanaceae family - tomato, potato, eggplant, peppers

Other plant medicines which I have found helpful include:

Sarsaparilla (Smilax officinalis)
Cat's Claw (Uncaria spp.)

Samambaia (Polypodium spp.) has been clinically proven to be of benefit, but I've taken it for months without any obvious effect.

Burdock (Arctium lappa) is good, but for long-term support, not quick relief.

As far as herbal medicine goes, look for plants that are anti-inflammatory and immuno-modulatory.
