I posted a while ago about being able to see this spinning wheel or gear behind closed eyes the day after smoalking some spice and then getting stoned.

That was the first time I had ever noticed this wheel and and chalked it up to being some residual DMT in my system potentiated by pot. The thing is now EVERY time I smoke pot before bed I lay there and I can see this wheel. It also happens if I am over tired. I have seen it probably ten times now and have been trying to study its characteristics.

So I close my eyes and I look for the wheel, I find it but it is sort of hard to "look at" I can only see it if I am not looking directly at it. If I look directly at it it starts to spew out these hypnagogic images like phosphenes but they have definite shapes to them. The images will then get in the way of the wheel and I will have to redirect my focus to see it again.

The wheel itself is a flat circle that is a different shade of black than what I see with my eyes closed. The images it spews out are multi colored and fall downward on top of each other. I found that if I really try I can look at the wheel (which happens to be in the center of my forehead it seems) I can somehow pull myself "into" my head... it sounds weird but it feels like a deep state of meditation that I have only experienced a few times while tripping.

Not only do the images block my view of the wheel they also seem to catch my mental attention and lead me into thoughts or what seem to be the beginnings of dreams.

I don't know if I'm going mad or what but it has been happening with such frequency that I can't deny it. Does anyone else get this?

I know this is an old post but I just ran across it.

A similar thing happens to me quite frequently. Especially in the days after taking LSD..

The thing I get is sort of like if a neon flower like light were passing over my field of vision at persicely regular intervals. It happens to me when I am going to sleep.

I actually really enjoy when this happens and when it doesn't happen.. I miss it.

I find it very relaxing/soothing.

Are you still having this type of phenomena?.
And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but do not percieve the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "brother let me remove the speck from your eye", when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye?-Yeshua ben Yoseph

Yes I still get this, it has even come to be a regular thing since I started noticing it and I am able to see it without using DMT or pot. I can't really pull myself into the meditation without pot though and I haven't smoked in a little over a month now so thats a little disappointing.

I also get the neon lights that swirl around, I believe they are phosphenes. However, I have messed around with those as well and found that if you stare into the darkness at one spot and don't blink they will become very noticeable and almost overwhelm your entire vision, they usually appear as green, blue or sometimes pinkish and look like halves of the yin yang that swim around. It's pretty fun to watch them but I think they are a pretty common occurrence.

I would like to find some relevant information on this "wheel" thing because it is very much visible and seems to be different than the hypnogogic images in that it seems like it is creating them and it is a constant where as the images change and disappear.

My interpretation of this is that you are experiencing the effects of opening your Ajna Chakra, the third eye. I get the same thing often, but I usually see it as an open eye, staring at me. However, Chakras are symbolized as wheels in the Tantric tradition.

owlman...

I am inclined to believe it's chakra related as well.

It may be, the times that I used pot and pulled myself inside my head definitely felt like some third eye meditation experience if I ever had one. I could only compare it to an experience I had on the comedown of mushrooms and a few times using hemisync+pot where it actually felt like my awareness was pulled inside and to the very center of my head in which there was an entire universe.

I have seen the chakras symbolized as wheels or described as vortexes, but have never read anything about actually visualizing them.

In my experience this thing is a visual marker of the veil between the waking world and the astral world. After doing some holotropic breathwork in combination with syrian rue it became extremely prominent, shot forwards, became the familiar chrysanthemum one sees on spice and blasted through into a hyperspatial world. Haven't touched the spice for years!

They are also often visualized as lotus flowers (of different colors and number of petals) and through their corresponding sigils, gods, scents, feelings, sounds etc.

Ajna is often seen as a golden egg. The corresponding mantra is "OHM".

My favorite visualisation is seeing them as correspondingly colored gem-stones that I mentally polish through mantra chanting, for each mantra I chant the stone is polished until I can feel them shining brightly. Then I move on the next one, starting with Muladhara (red) and working my way up to Sahasrara (all colors). When they all are open, a beautiful rainbow is created, ready to rise the Kundalini.
