The only reason there is a reality is because our brain leads us to think so.

the cognitive enhancement that comes from increased dopamine doesn't seem to be doing much for junkies

That's because of the mechanism of the stimulant drugs themselves( meth. Crack, Coc.) rather than dopamine itself. Enhancement of dopamine function can be acheived by those lower down the power ladder without resorting to street drugs. Sports, excercise, nutrition. and.... conntroversely for those unsatisfied with their quota of dopamine function via natural means could consider ,pharmaceuticals such as Selegiline, Rasagiline which are even reported to extend life in test animals. http://www.biopsychiatry.com/index.html ( flawed in many respects I know, but has some interesting concepts)

The glow I get from B. caapi tea, has a whif of dopamine enhancement about it, also the post trip glow of DMT and Salvia. Dopamine isn't always about drive focus and ambition.

Maybe my view is coloured as I've has ADHD all my life, and dopamine enhancers have a calming effect for me.Neutral
