So heres the thing, ive come to a bit of a crossroads lately.

And ive come to the conclusion, i just do not want to support it anymore. The capitolist model; work, make money, spend, work more. the abuse of power in almost all aspects of existance, from global down to personal. The drugs laws aswell as a bunch of other doctrines which are swiftly taking all our civil liberties. Animal cruelty, even down to places like sea world.... And were not even scratching the surface.

I feel theres too many causes to fight for and the best way to address them all is just to boycott this all together.

Dont get me wrong, there are so many benefits to lfe this day and age its unreal. But i cant help but think real happiness in life just isnt found in these amenities. Idealy, i could detach but still benefit from the advantages of our society; though this.seems unlikely

right, so heres my questions:

Is there a way to detach from society this day and age without totally withdrawing like a hermit? Would you support this....do.you aggree with me or not? I see both sides.of the coin....im still unsure myself.

And if you think this is an achievable goal, how would you/did you do it yourself?

Its just a thought really, but one iv been dealing with a while....

Join or create a commune, move to the mountains, desert. Been thinking this for 20 years. Basically in the mountains you could hunt, fish, garden or gather, food* note you will spend allot of time on this, use solar for electricity, and even possibly a homemade damn to generate a constant flow. you will need to be near water for the supply as well as possible travel route for resources. Gather ginseng, bloodroot or yellow root to fund city access for essential needs not 100% viable to locally source. Deserts ups the energy resources but badly reduces the ability to farm or do other locally sourced needs.

Digging in is a good idea as well as any possible passers by would not see your encampment and possibly, report it, or rob it, if you aren't there. Think dwarves babay. Plus earth temps like those in a cave make heating/cooling a non issue.

Been thinking a lot about this myself.
Here are a few things I've come across.

Build your own 'tiny house'
You can build a small house on top of a flatbed trailer avoiding building codes and property taxes and all that fun stuff.
You can build a house for one to two people for around $4,000 US
Use solar power to run your electronics.

You would also want to buy some land, at least a quarter of an acre, preferably more that has a well or spring on it.
This would still require paying property taxes but they are very minimal and you said you didn't want to withdraw from society completely so you could still have a part time job or sell food at farmers markets, make crafts or what not for money.

Google Tiny Houses and check it out.
Also look on Amazon to find some books on how to live on a quarter of an acre.

I've lived "on the ground" in the desert at times for periods--as long as you can get water (by either caching it, or choosing a place with a nearby spring), and the temperatures aren't too extreme, you can live with only a sleeping pad and sleeping bag. I took various seeds for a little sprouting (just to have some "fresh food"Pleased and some rice or flour (to make something like a "pancake"Pleased, and you can go as long as you please. Walk all day, or just meditate.

I did this in Nevada, which is nearly 80% Federal land--and there are MANY places to go that are 50 miles from ANY road. It's like living on the moon. It's AMAZING just to feel the natural circadian rhythm just take over--no artificial light; and to sleep under the stars.

Beyond that, you can always build a small cob hut for essentially no money.

-Another good way is to go travelling to cheap countries where you can rent a room for $3-4 a day, and eat for like $2. You could work making and selling Artasenia, or could help in a bar or hostal. This way you are enjoying the fun and happy aspects of life without getting involved in the "heavy" stuff. Countries like Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia spring to mind. As do India, Nepal, Thailand and Cambodia. In India you will meet many people with your same mindset living just like you wish to.

-You could also buy some land and build a yurt or better still an eco house. South America is a great place to do this, but if i was you i's for the time being focus on working hard and amassing as much capitol as possible as a safety blanket for any hard times ahead. Smile

-I have done the travelling option, and must admit that the being stuck in one place thing is too restrictive to me. I just love to keep moving. I think fears accumulate when we are stuck in one place too long. We become comfortable, but at the same time become weak to spontanaeity which is the real vibrancy of life. Whilst society works, it is built for staying put and this causes a lot of stagnation, and isn't good for the soul.Cool
