One quick comment before I proceed. I tried starting a topic in the stb extraction and could not. If a mod could move this post and change the title to "extraction help" I would appreciate it.

Anyways Afoaf put 600g mimosa hostilis fine powder into a bucket.
400g sodium hydroxide (lye) with 3000ml water was added to momosa bucket. First the water than the hydroxide. During my 30 minute stir fumes and heat was noted produced from the bucket.
After a some time of sitting Afoaf put 300ml clear napatha in bucket stirred and sit.
Then the napatha was brought out the colour was dark brown light brown. After evaping in a fan overnight afoaf is left with a metal pan of mainly waxxy yet still oily wet dark brown-light brown ?gunk?
Confused as FUCK afoaf is panicking because this does not look right!

Any advice would be appreciated

First about your post. As a new member you are only allowed to post in Welcome Area. After you get full membership you will be able to post anywhere in this forum.

To the extraction. Fist of all you are not using enough water. For 600g I would use at least 7litres of water. The colour should be dark brown almost black. Looks like you did not use enough lye. For 600g MHRB I would use 600g of lye. How much naphtha do you use ? You only have to separate naphta from the bark, lye water solution. It looks like you pulled some plant stuff with naphtha.

This is how it ends up when you dont do your homework properly. Looks like you have no idea what you are doing my friend.

And smoking Naphtha is very very bad idea

Maybe you should read a bit more before trying so much mimosa at once. Maybe try 50 or 100g first.

What material is the bucket made of? I hope you made sure its not something that will dissolve in naphtha or break with lye.

Also please do an evaporation test in your solvent if you didnt yet.

Yep. Swim did the same thing his first pull!
Powdered root bark is part of the issue.

Swim had orange-brown naphtha and thought- wow. thats a lot of spice. It was not. Swim had not let the dust settle so to speak. Even though it didn't look like little particles floating in the naphtha it was.
Let the solution settle 24 hours after gentle mixing if you are using powder. You will see the color go from orange brown to yellow. Don't pull it off if it’s not yellow. All the particles of the powder need to settle out of the naphtha.

and as stated above - yes! don't use a bucket or any plastic! ick. the chemicals involved could easily leach plastic into your stuff. Not good. Use glass only IMO. Best trip I ever made was to the local ‘brew your own beer shop’ for a large glass container with a cork, along with a good funnel and stuff. Beer shops have much of the material you want, including PH test strips and stuff.
See the photo below- you don’t want any of that color. Bad!!!!

See that 2nd photo below? That is the color you want if you let it sit for 24 hours after gentle mix.

oh- and another tip- DON'T USE A FAN!
This was the mistake my friend swim made on his 2nd attempt.
This will oxidize dmt, turns the yellow to brown very quickly. Let it evap. naturally. Oxidized dmt is goo.
