What is the difference in effects if one extracts with phosphate vs. hydrochloride?

is the acid still in the final product and how does it affect the experience?

I heard bits of lye was the only thing left if not done right/cleaned enough.... BIG THANKS!!!!

You're talking about DMT I suppose. Albeit I'm not a "pro", I can't see why there would be a difference in the final product, regardless of the method of extraction. DMT is DMT, you can squeeze it out of the plant with your bare hands, if you can do that, and there would be no difference what so ever from extracting using an STB or A/B tek.

I'd hope not. Shocked There *may* be traces of it in the final product, depending on how well you perform your extraction, but you can always recrystallize to get rid of it; you can tell if it's not clean enough if the smoke is very harsh or tastes nasty. It's not safe smoking HCl, nor lye. I've heard they burn rather hard, especially internal tissue.

word. that's what i was thinking, but ive heard them call iy dmt phosphate or dmt hci so i wasnt sure if that was an added chem structure..

Terrence mckenna says the smoke is harsh and tastes like plastic and that you have to have "leather" lungs to smoke it? Im sure he had pure shitt right since he was in that whole psychedelic loop of the 60's and new tim leary/shulgin and was an advocate of dmt.

Have we just evolved in our extractions since then? I mean Erowid shows a pic of yellow spice, ive heard this is the best, but ive also heard white spice is better/smoother.

is there lye in yellow? or is it just extra plant fats that make it thT COLOR? and if the plant fats made it through does thaT MEAN the lye and acid could be in there too?

The difference is only in the method of absorption by the body, and how long it takes for the effects to kick in.

Oh yeah, the smoke is harsh, but not so much if you vaporize it correctly. What Terrence probably did, was simply burning it and that's why it would taste like plastic. Dunno. My spice has a flowery smell & taste. The taste is pretty subtle, though.

Techniques have improved a lot, indeed, over the last decade, but I wouldn't know if the yellow spice on Erowid is actually better or worse than the white stuff, for example. Maybe someone else can help with that. Yellow/reddish is an indicator of plant matter being mixed with the final product. If it's excessively yellow, then it probably contains unsafe quantities of lye, as well, in which case recrystallization is recommended.

Smoking impure spice is very different from a simple harsh smoke, feels more like poison and smells nastier.
