I am having a hard time finding quality mimosa hostilis in British Columbia. The local shamanic supply shops sell a grade of plant that I find surprisingly substandard, yielding only 2 grams of spice from about a half kilo of mimosa. I've gotten higher yields before, but never this low, this consistently, from this supplier.

I'm using the lime/naptha tech from Q2121 (spelling?*?), and while I'm sure to expect a slightly lower yield than with my limonene extractions, I'm sure that only 2 grams from a half kilo, running me close to $250 per gram in cost (approx. not including extraction materials)

My formulas ran like this (two pulls per batch):
Mimosa.............Spice
129.85g yields 0.44g
179.81g yields 0.36g
178.00g yields 0.47g
168.64g yields 0.44g
leftovers unrecorded, minimal

Is there something I am doing wrong? Or am I just using expired mimosa thats been sitting in the shops storage way too long? Should I order online?

The spice I did get was of the utmost highest quality though.... Very pure, very white, very fluffy, very crystaline. Probably the prettiest and purest I have made, and the quality has surpassed all my previous preparations,as several of my friends would attest to. But such small yields!!! It concerns me....

Urban shaman and others around here sell mimosa hostilis ROOT BARK whereas most places sell only the INNER ROOT BARK. I remember I dranked a brew with 20g worth of of their "MHRB" and with any other supplier I would have been to hyperspace and beyond (tested 5g and 10g of their stuff before to be safe) but I had an experience with only the mildest of visuals, lke 2.5g of shrooms.
I took the equivalent of 12-15g of quality mimosa (extracted) on another occasion and it was like 8+ grams of shrooms in intensity. I'll PM about the places I've bought mine from, cause forums other than the suppliers forum index to google which we don't want.
Q21Q21's Tek: A comprehensive guide to extracting DMT
The 2 teks use non-toxic lime and vinegar and Tek 1: d-Limonene or Xylene or Tek 2: Naptha to produce very quick high yields with the greatest of ease.

I am almost never on this site anymore so I will likely not answer PMs

Urban shaman had very potent mimosa when I used their mimosa a few years ago, like 4 years probably..maybe they have different bark now...the problem is that it is soo $$..I just remember that bark being of very high quality and it was whole bark not powdered. There is no reason to use it though unless you cant order bark.

I have no problems ordering potent bark to Vancouver. 2-4g of the bark I have is enough for a decent experience from a vendor with the innitials CS..if you need 10, 12 or 15g of bark for an oral experience something is definatily not right there..that is not normal for anyone I know. Anyone who even goes up to 10g that I have heard of does so expecting to be completely annailated by the experience.

How much harmalas are you using q21? The only thing I can think of is you need alot of harmalas for some reason..or you have some uncommon tolerancne to DMT..or the bark is just weak.

To the OP..that is really low yeilds..either something is up with your tek or the bark is just not too potent.

I could be wrong on that, you probably know a lot more about it than I do.
I did 3 boils on it after powdering it and took it 30 minutes after 3.5g of rue tea.

3.5g of rue should definatly be enough...maybe some people need more but for me and most others I have given it to that is enough rue for full inhibition. 3 boils on the powdered mimosa should also be enough to have a potent brew. I think your method should work if you have decent mimosa and rue and you are not unusually unsensitive to DMT or harmalas.

I can not imagine a person needing more than 5g to experience at the very least a mid level experience with half decent rootbark. Some people do take more but they are usually shooting for a very very deep hyperspace expereince on par with a vaped breakthrough. I think 7g is about the highest I have gone and it was too much. If you can drink 20g rootbark and it feels like a light mushroom experience chances are the bark is not on the level of most of the mimosa rootbark available.

Thanks for the tips, and since it was mentioned, the Urban Shaman is where I last got the mimosa from.... Unless it actually is the quality of the mimosa, here are some notes and suspected errors from my preparations.

Any troubleshooting tips are appreciated.

The mimosa was not powdered, it was shredded...

it was done over a double boiler, with a standard size pyrex bowl, (perhaps too small a bowl for nearly 200g mimosa)...

the mimosa was left to sit in warm-hot vinegar for at least an hour, occasionally stirred...

the amounts of vinegar and lime used was generous...

pure naptha was used, however in order to prevent too much from evaporating, it was mixed with the prepared mimosa only until it became hot enough to bubble/boil...

freezer time was an average of 48 hrs

ok, so you did not powder the bark yourself?..you just used the shredded bark as is?..IMO if it not powdered it is going to lower yields especially with that tek. Also, how long was the naptha left to pull the bark? I only use limo when I do that tek becasue I found that longer pulls pull more. I do like 3-4 limo pulls and the last 2 are like 24 hours or more so that everything comes out..doesnt matter if you pull more fats because you can salt the solvent anyway and clean the spice up later if you need to.

Also, with that tek I have found that sometimes you can loose solvent in the mimosa/lime mix if the ratios of everything is not just right..which can as well lower yields.

I tried to powder it myself but my blender just wasn't doing the job.

The naptha could not have been mixed for more than 15 minutes, just long enough to heat up the naptha to a bubble, mix it for a bit, then straight to the dish, covered and into the freezer.

hot naptha should pull more in a smaller ammount of time..still 15 minutes is not alot especially if your bark is not powdered.

I was also going to suggest doing some hot pulls. I usually put my jug (with naphtha and base soup) into a hot water bath made in my sink. I let it sit in there for a couple hours, topping up with boiling water now and again and shaking it every 10 mins or so. I get an extra bundle of spice this way and definitely helps increase yield.

you're not worried about the naptha dissolving the plastic into your mix? or are you using glass?

I did a pull recently that got splashed a lot onto the plastic wrap in the freezer and I believe that was the source of the sticky, plastic type resin I found spotted around my spice.... I threw out the batch.
