I recently did an a/b on 100g of bark, and decided to salt the dmt out of limo with hcl water. After evaporating the salting water, i noticed the dmt would not dry out and seemed to be very hygroscopic. Tried heating it and working it around to manually crystallize it but it was not working at all like it does with the fumarate. After doing some googling it seems to be that dmt hcl is very hygroscopic, and is very difficult to dry.

Is it even worth trying to dry it out? Has anyone had success getting dmt hcl to crystallize?

I taped a few silica desiccant packs on the side of the pyrex dish and sealed it with saran wrap, hopefully this will do the trick to get it dry, but if not is there any other way i could dry it out and get it to crystallize? Or am i better off freebasing it again and salting out with fumaric acid to get something less hygroscopic?

I was excited to try hcl because it will not leave any excess acid like fumaric will, but if its impossible to get dry, then whats the point?

And help would be appreciated.

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...

There is no point, DMT HCl is hygroscopic, forget trying to crystallize it. It works for mescaline, not for DMT. With DMT the only viable solid salt form of DMT is DMT fumarate. Other forms are either hygroscopic or are salts of very strong/reactive acids that most people should not be playing around with.

With fumaric acid you can do some FASA or FASI precipitation to clean up, as well as IPA/acetone recrystallization. I've found that if one lets solvent decant for a few days, and/or is well filtered, a slow FASA/FASI can yield very clean crystals. The advantage of the FASA/FASI method is that there should only be negligible amounts of excess fumaric acid if the solvent is dried, a fact which can be seen by when, if there's no more alkaloids, it doesnt cloud up/precipitate even if you add more FASI/FASA.

Regardless of what method you get your alkaloids, you can always clean them up. The art of cleaning up is a mix of patience, redissolution with thorough filtering, slow crystallization and repetitions.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I had a feeling it was going to be a waste of time trying to dry it out from everything i read on google about the hcl. I guess I'll prob just have to freebase it and recrystallize this batch with bestine, or maybe freebase it, and pull again then fasa/i/w it out. Now that i think of it, it seems every batch of fumarate that i got that was contaminated with fumaric acid, was the ones i was being lazy with. I'll try as you say, and go slow and be extra perceptive to what I'm doing so i don't end up with a bunch of crap in my end product.

Its too bad the hcl is not a viable route, it makes things much easier, except for the hygroscopic-ness.

also hydrochloric acid can denature DMT.
I had over 2 grams of DMT that I just kept trying to smoke and smoke. Plumes of smoke with no visuals, no strong effect at all.

This was when I used HCl instead of vinegar, it was at very weak concentration when salting it from the d-limonene but I suppose it concentrated down with the evaporation to a smaller liquid, or the heat+hcl denatured it but it was really odd smoking what looked and smelled like perfectly fine DMT with no effects, then throwing out over 2 grams of bunk DMT.
Q21Q21's Tek: A comprehensive guide to extracting DMT
The 2 teks use non-toxic lime and vinegar and Tek 1: d-Limonene or Xylene or Tek 2: Naptha to produce very quick high yields with the greatest of ease.

I am almost never on this site anymore so I will likely not answer PMs

Maybe because you shouldnt smoke dmt salts and should convert them to freebase instead. It is well known that smoking alkaloid salts is generally innefective or even potentially dangerous/unhealthy in the case of some salts (for example dont smoke fumarate salts, you dont want to breathe maleic anhydride or other possible combustion byproducts)

Yeah, this was for pharma, and was definitely not going to try and smoke a salt. I am even skeptical of "smoking" dmt acetate. I'll just freebase it if i want it vape it.
