My friend is finishing his 2nd AB extract. He had a pound of MHRB. Used half on the first extract in case he screwed up. Besides a few minor speed bumps, all went well. Now wants the 2nd extract perfect. Only difference this time is a defat with toluene, then naptha.

Used Naptha to pull from base, and got major emulsion which is still almost totally engulfing the nap layer 10 hrs. later. (only took about 45 min. to settle last time). Did pull and evap a small amount resulting in beatiful white sparkly crystals. Tried manually breaking up the emulsion, also tried a little salt water... Anything else I can try besides waiting 2 weeks?

And what may have caused this? I did'nt shake it, just stirred.

All you have to do is add more base. It will clear up and separate immediately.

It's at about ph 13 now, you caan't overbasify it?
