Hello everyone. I just wanted to give an update on my mescaline extraction. You can read abouts its beginnings and ordeals here: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=26257

I have been watching my mixture for a little bit now. There has been a little separation but the emulsion is still crazy. I think one reason is that the cactus powder was so fine, like dust after I powdered it in a vitamix, then of course putting the complete mixture back in there! ( Don't do that!)

So I purchased some sodium carbonate and mixed it in. I understand that sodium carbonate + calcium hydroxide = lye. My question about this is what ratio of the two together will create lye without one of the original chemicals being left over or not used up? lets say I have 60g of calcium hydroxide already in the mixture how much sodium carbonate should I add? And I would imagine that I would need to heat it up to better facilitate the reaction.

What I plan on doing is creating more lye in a separate solution of water with calcium hydroxide and sodium carbonate. My mixture of goodies is still very thick and I think it would be best to treat it like an A/B extraction. I will add this solution of lye and water to the cactus mixture and see if that works to form a nice separation. I can also add non-ionized salt to make the water more polar so it separates more easily form the non polar d-limo. If needed, once the solution is adequately thin, I can filter it and then wait for separation. It seems that it would be hard to filter though. From the looks of it I anticipate that the filter would become clogged and the product of the filtration would still contain plenty of cactus gunk.

I will try to upload pictures soon.

What do you guys think? So a question I would appreciate being answered is how I would go about making lye in water with cal hydroxide and sodium carbonate. What would be the correct ratios? Thanks!
