Four men were arrested this morning as federal drug agents busted a South Buffalo laboratory where a potent psychedelic drug known as dimethyltryptamine — or DMT — was being manufactured illegally.

The clandestine drug lab was believed to have been operated for at least the past six months in a house on Fredro Street, in the Clinton-Bailey area, said Dale Kasprzyk, a Buffalo supervisor of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

"To our knowledge, this is the first DMT lab busted in Western New York, and only the third ever in New York state," Kasprzyk said. "DMT is a drug that is just beginning to emerge in this area."

DEA agents worked on the investigation with Cheektowaga Police, Buffalo Police and the New York State Police, Kasprzyk said.

More detailed information will be released by the U.S. Attorney's office at federal court later today, the agent said.

Is DMT becoming more popular recently? Or is it as underground as ever? Traveler said that this site has grown massively, but that could be just migration from other forums.

I don't know of any other DMT forums. Lot's of drug or psychedelic forums that have DMT subforums but no DMT specific forums.

This is the only extracted-DMT forum I've ever stumbled across. The only other forums I know of are the ones on the links page here, ayahuasca.com being the botanical equivalent to us I guess.

^^They can try to take away the plants but they will fail. They can try to take away the substances but they will fail. These substances are so easy to extract and so easy to synthesize that they can never really stop it just make it more inconveinent.

More then likely though if things don't start changing we will gradually see some of the major plants banned.

I wonder if this was another botched methlab bust. AFAIK most extraction busts come from misidentified methlabs.

Hopefully SWIMMERS can phase out NaOH use with the emergence of new methods. Acetone is also a meth cooking reagent (so don't let your neighbors see you bring it inside) but it is much less scritinized than NaOH.

I would be interested in finding out why these people were investigated. The only other bust I heard about was at a college dorm and they were selling weed out of their dorm room. That is what got them busted for extracting DMT.

I highly doubt they had a "lab" set up, or that any of them were chemists. However, if one of them was selling the Spice that would certianly make them a target for the D..E....A..... It just takes one person getting busted to say, "oh I bought it from so-and-so" and so-and-so is going to be getting a visit from their friendly neighborhood D.E...A.... agent.

The D..E...A.... is a terrorist organization.

They were selling acid to an informant, and they decided to introduce the informant to the world of DMT.

That makes sense to me. Selling anything illegal is a good way to get into trouble with the law.

The DEA isn't looking for people extracting DMT at home, but they will go after anyone who is reported to them. That's their job.

Lots of undercover guys go around looking for people selling at the mall, the parks, etc. If you sell illegal drugs to the general public, it’s only a matter of time before you get busted.

You should not sell illegal drugs, period, unless you plan on going to jail in the future.

The DEA basically responds to reports from the public. They are rarely ever proactive. They have enough reports to keep them very busy. If a mall shop seller reports to the police that there are people dealing illegal drugs in front of their storefront, the DEA will respond. If no one reports it, nothing happens. The DEA has a long never ending list of reports to respond to. They don’t have much time to find people on their own. They are too busy.

If you’re making DMT at home, and one of your “friends” reports you, you will get busted, even if you’re not selling it. Possession alone is a crime. And even if you extracted it for personal use, that’s still considered manufacture and punishable by the same laws.

If the DEA was actively trying to get people for DMT, they’d be busting all the on-line Mimosa sellers, and they are not at this time doing that. Sell of mimosa can, under the law in the US, be interpreted as selling DMT if the DEA chooses to. But they don’t. They don’t care about DMT right now because they get almost no complaints filed for its sell and manufacture. But if it ever gets popular on the street, that will change.
