Just reading up about bufotenin, trying to work out how best to sort out my dark brown crystals. It seems a lot of people say bufotenin N-oxide is responsible for the dark colour and nasty effects, it won't pass the BBB but has negative effects on the body.

Just saw this reaction: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cope_reaction

This will occur to the N-oxide at temperatures well below the vaporisation temperature, removing the nitrogen completely and creating a new compound.

I think this is correct, any comments?

Also could the N-oxide be reduced back to the amine using an iron catalyst instead of zinc that most people seem to use? The wikipedia page on amines says this should be possible.

Cheers
