Hello all. I'll try to make this brief, as I'm not sure how I can elaborate on my thoughts anymore, but I will try.
I have been researching and wanting to try DMT for near on 6 months now, in this time I have experienced LSD and a weak dose of mushrooms. The experiences were absoloutely incredible, I feel myself evolving as person, my perception changing all the time, always for the better, and I am very glad that I embarked on this spiritual journey. I'm making this post, to see if there are any people out there like me that have experienced DMT, you see, I'm incredibly nervous about trying it, given all of the stories (the bad linger) I've read and heard about. The experience comes across as mind blowing, I know that eventually I will take the plunge, but I will take the time I need to.
I'm the kind of person that gets real scared walking to the toilet at night, or gets shit scared for a good week of everything after seeing a horror flick. Without going into too much detail, I also feel an unpleasant energy, when I might feel vulnerable, or not at my own home. I don't know if this is me letting me believe that something isn't right, or if I'm just being silly. Not even sure that made sense, haha.
I won't be suprised if I'm not the only person like this, hell, I know I'm not, but given everyone's ego, you rarely hear about it. Can anyone offer... words of comfort? Perhaps relating to my current state of mind, and having had a beautiful experience?
Apologies for anything that didn't make a whole lot of sense, all input is appreciated.

Voidwalk, I am preparing to take the journey for the first time myself, and do not have the same challenges with fear that you describe, so I'm pretty much the exact opposite of the person you are looking for... However, in my experiences with LSD, mushrooms, and a few other compounds, I have often been the support person for persons like you. My first comment would be that you may be stronger than you think. You state that you are the 'kind of person' who 'gets shit scared for a good week' after seeing a horror flick, which suggests that you have had the experience several times. Other statements in your post suguest that you have been through some real-life scary stuff that you are still working through. All that, combined with your interest in DMT tells me that you are a strong spirit seeking to confront your fears, which is very brave. Do you have someone you trust that will be with you when you partake? I would recommend you have one or two sober persons with you to provide a positive environment and a type of 'safety net' that will let you go more deeply into the experience. It is critical that you trust this person or persons 100%. If they see you emotionally struggling, they can offer soft words of support and care. It may be that you want to confront your fears through DMT; if so, meditate on your strength. DMT can be momentarily scary, but it is safer than a trip to the bathroom in the dark. ![Smile](/forum/images/emoticons/smile.png) You will come through the experience stronger. If you don't want to confront the fears, the friends you have can give you a loving atmosphere that can result in a very blissful experience.

Your reply was really what I think I needed to see. I do have persons I can trust, these are the same people I experienced psychadellics with for the first time, 100% loving environment, and I will heed your advice and do it with them. I should try it within the year, considering all goes well, I look forward to posting a "trip report" ![Very happy](/forum/images/emoticons/grin.png) .

Keep in mind that, like most other substances, DMT effects are related to dose size. From personal experience, I can tell you that (if you’re of average weight and have good smoking technique) you’ll barely feel a dose of up to 10mg or so. So why not start there? There is absolutely no possibility of having a traumatic experience with a dose that size. Then, go up to 20mg. At this dose, you might get some visuals, but you’re almost guaranteed not to break through. Once you’re comfortable with this dose, give 25mg a try. Then 27mg, then 30mg, etc. I’ve had DMT hundreds of times, and facing a breakthrough dose in my GVG is still a very anxious moment. One of the lessons that DMT seems to teach is facing your visceral fears. gibran2 is a fictional character. Any resemblance to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental.

Dear Nightgazer
I can understand your worries, but you are on the path now.
First time for me, I faced my worst fears, I had always known would present sometime. I had seen them for years. As flickers of bad dreams as memories of freaking out etc.... I too had researched for years.... wanting to understand what would happen.
When the time actually came i was safe and had 3 sitters (by chance) forming a square as we sat and prepared. As i began to inhale it all came together, dreams, memories, fears, my internal dialogue reeling as I was falling into the vortex a tunnel made of my personal hell.......I had always been falling in somehow.
So I let go.......................................and you know when I allowed myself to release all outcomes,... my hell instantly turned into the most awesome healing experience. I have rarely felt so wonderful...... only in peak moments of high achievement or healing ....
I found It was not stressful but amazing... and available. accesable and intergrateable. (perhaps not spellable) lol
What I am trying to say is follow all your safe methods ( sitters and settings) and trust the process. Everyone is scared until they understand their fear. Then they are not scared of being scared but allow themselves and learn to use it, to be safer. To see deeper as we open.
You are on the path so trust it. You have come to the right place.
There are so many excellent individuals here in Nexus. Everyone has something to offer. I only know a fraction of what is Nexus but I too am learning.
I suggest you read lots of first experience reports.... they are awesome.
Good luck until you know what....lol

Hello,
The first time I tried D I was shaking with excitement and a bit of nerves to, what helps me is 2-5 minutes of deep, slow and heavy breathing It really helps quiet your mind and relax your body.
Try clearing you mind of ALL thoughts, focus on a zen-like nothingness and when your in the right place fire up.
Have confidence in yourself, fear is natural.
Big love.

The best way I think is light up only when the body feels neutral(not nervous or feeling the heartbeat), and forgetting about what you are about to toke. If one even thinks about anxiety, it might be best to wait for another 15-60min to forget about everything, as above mentioned, to go into the zen state

Voidwalk ( ![Embarrased](/forum/images/emoticons/blush.png) ), I think that this before and after should set your mind to ease. Edit: That should be linking to the 17th comment, I'm not sure why it's not quite getting there. PK Dick is to LSD as HP Lovecraft is to Mushrooms

I think some posters may be confusing me with the OP (Voidwalk). Nice to feel the love, though.

I've vaporized a lot of DMT in my DMT career, and I would consider the majority of the experiences to be extremely positive, with a handsome amount being rather boring and an extremely small percentage being negative at all. I treat the experience with much respect, and "it" seems to appreciate that and reciprocate with love. I've seen the most beautiful things beyond my imagination (or memory ![Wink](/forum/images/emoticons/wink.png) ) and experienced the most immersive, complete bliss. It has revolutionized my life and thoughts for the better, and I could not imagine a better chemical companion (ok, maybe one that lasted longer ![Laughing](/forum/images/emoticons/laughing.png) ). DMT's not for everybody, but I think part of the key to establishing a good relationship with it is to start low on dose and work your way up. Allow yourself some time to get used to the space (head space, body feelings, sudden emotional feelings, etc...) and these low dose experiences help to realize that no matter what happens (cause even at low doses, it can mirror what would be high dose LSD experiences and the like), you always come back after a short amount of time. Even with the most intense experiences that you can imagine, you come back all the same and everything reverts back to normal after a short amount of time. Whether you just had the most blissful or most fearful experience in the world, you probably will have a hard time remembering what it actually felt like regardless...there's this sort of detachment from the experience once its over. I know this next part is easier said than done, but you gotta train your mind to go with the flow and avoid resistance of any kind because I find that even in the most uncomfortable and dark of situations, if you just sit back and let things work themselves out, even the darkest of visions can flower into the most blissful and beautiful. All in all though, speaking for myself, it's well worth the plunge. "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead

I would agree with the above. If you are not a confident diver then dont go to the top olympic 10m high diving board for your first dive. start at the poolside, then work your way up the lower diving boards until your confidence builds. However, I do think it is possible that if you only take enough to plunge to a limited depth of your consciousnes, then your ego will still be a very strong force and it will fight and struggle to maintain itself. The ensuing battle is what your experience will consist of and it is a right pain in the arse tbh. Certainly this is what I have found, but then I have not yet had a proper strong DMT hit. It took another couple of small DMT hits before it got the point where once again, everything was turning grim and intense, and I just thought to myself, "ach, not this crap again, to hell with it". It was after that point of mental resignation, that suddenly all the dragons and spiders, dissolved into a big silver palace, and for the first point, I found myself enjoying a DMT experience. Having said all that, those I know who have had a proper 'dunt' on thier first attempt, have all come out the other end uterly ecstatic and it is those people who seem to be most confident DMT users now. Those who for whatever reason had a mild dunt (me for one) on thier first go, have all tended to have struggled with it at first. So it is totally your call! On the plus side, is that unlike other hallucingenics, on DMT you remain yourself in that no psychic force can hi-jack your own sense of self. Also, the experience only lasts ten minutes or so and starts to fade away after just 5 minutes.

This may be true in the sense that the 'yourself' on an everday conscious level consists of forces, that when on DMT you will view from afar and recognise those forces as not actually 'belonging' to yourself, but as seperate to yourself and not really who you are (as convoluted as that sounds). What i was trying to say is that from my experience, my sense of judgement has never been distorted on DMT and I have always felt like 'me'. The same cannot be said for mushrooms or LSD. Of course, I have never had a proper DMT hit so I cant really vouch for how it is with stronger doses. It is very hard to describe the differences between psychoactive substances with flat two dimensional words.

What I’m getting at is that it’s possible to cease to exist as the “you” you are familiar with. In this post (post #9) I mention the instances of “ego replacement” I’ve had before: becoming another being, totally unaware of any prior existence. Only discovering that I was once a “human” as the experience is starting to fade – gradually remembering that I had/have a prior existence. It’s a very strange sort of experience. gibran2 is a fictional character. Any resemblance to anyone living or dead is purely coincidental.

I would be cautious to not overgeneralize. I've introduced people to DMT who have run the gambit of intensity of a first experience with DMT, and there were (I'd say the majority) who found it pleasurable despite the intensity and some who disliked both extremely mild effects as well as those who disliked the intense effects. The only thing you have to be anxious about is your false ego. From my experience, dealing with that part of our self (false ego) that inhibits our true self has been the only difficulty or 'bad journey' I have had, but even then, it was a beautiful and enlightening experience even as difficult as it was. The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.

anxiety/fear is what makes the experience authentic. It encourages respect for the spirit molecule. Go with it.
I only get anxious with spice and shrooms. I think its the understanding that you are in some ways giving up control. Most people have a real problem with that.

voidwalk, When i was introducted to DMT I was like you, i had a few lsd experiences under my belt but was still pretty vague about psychedelics. Unlike you when i was told about what dmt was it was by a friend who was also offering it to me later on that day. I took time to think about it but quickly came to the decision i would try it. I believe in trying things at least once if your curios. in the 2 hrs i had to wait I was nervous and calm but it was good to have that time to think about myself, where i was and what I was about to do, I didnt really know and had no expectations, i really knew nothing except that it was considered the most hallucinogenic drug in the world. If you would like to read my account of that first trip ill post the link at the bottom of this post. It is a very intense ride and can become overwhelming but it is also very gentle and beautiful. If you are curious and open to accept then I say go for it! don't think about it too much, when you are ready you will know, that may be tomorrow that may be in 5 months. Either way, when you do decide to accept the medicine, remember it's only for the next 10 mins and after that 10 mins whatever happened, you will be refreshed and will have defiantly taken something important from the trip. Be calm be true and accept yourself ![Smile](/forum/images/emoticons/smile.png) I really hope you enjoy! Peace https://www.dmt-nexus.me...osts&m=257791#257791Change is necessary! Thankyou, everyone for you input. Reading about your experiences, or your perceptions has actually changed my state of mind dramatically. It will still be some time before I embark on the journey, and I will do it with small doses at the beginning, but when I breakthrough, I'll tell you all about it! Also, Nitegazer I wish you luck with your first, and hopefully continued experiences with the spice ![Smile](/forum/images/emoticons/smile.png)

leave on this note. When you eventually do your first dose, focus on the act of smoking the spice nothing else, and just let go. because there is no such thing as fear where you are going! but i too still get extremely nervous everytime before i blast off. sit back and enjoy the ride, then come back to the nexus and enlighten us
