Anyone have any exp working with powdered caapi?

I find it almost impossible to siphon the the fine powderout of the brew if i don´t use a t-shirt or similar and that makes it hard to do multible boils...

Ive tried coffee filters but they just klog up and won´t let any liquid through.

I have let my brew stay in cold acidic waterfor 12hours before boiling and used alot of water though.

I'd suggest either THP or put it inside of a pillowcase (or something similar, like a t-shirt that's tied up into a pouch to hold the powdered stuff) and drop that in your water like a super teabag.

it kind of worked out with a t-shirt and trying to squezze the juice out and then putting the shirt back in the pot and rinse it with water to get the powder back.

Although i will only do 2boils i think.

I have yet to try it with caapi, but i have had success putting mimosa powder in a clean sock. I then tied the open end of the sock closed with twine, and treated the sock like a giant tea bag. place it in water, and push the material around with a wooden spoon while soaking to try and get as much material exposed to the water as possible. This keeps most of the non water soluble material from ever getting out, eliminating a need to filter. A simple overnight fridge and decant worked great. No reason i can think of that it wont work for caapi powder.

I've been working with the 4:1 caapi powder for a couple of days now. It seems the best way is after you finish your boil, dump everything into a large, clear collection jar and decant once all of the plant matter settles.

So far it's been WAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier than filtering.

For powders... I filter with a T-shirt.

THEN, after I've poured all the water from [pot A] -> [through the t-shirt] -> [into pot B]

I flip the t-shirt upside down, OVER pot A.

Pot A needs to be refilled with water for another wash... So I pour the clean wash water back into pot A, through the inverted t-shirt, to wash every scrap of powder back into the pot to boil.

HMMM. Did that make sense? Cool All of the "finished" washes are collected in pot B to reduce... but all the initial cooking happens in pot A.

Yeah this is what ive done so far with teh 4x caapi too.

So far ive only drank it alone and with a small amount of shrooms, the taste is preety good but my tummy feels like crap from it although it get´s better every time.

The medicine seems preety strong since 15grams gave me strong buzz and got my mind clear of any nicotine abstinens.

Have not tried any light with it yet but maybe tonight, although i have no scale and have eyeballed my mimosa this timeShocked Rolling eyes

While Caapi + Mushrooms can get fascinating, I find the combination makes me uber-nauseous. Though the body may adjust to the caapi-sickness over time...

I would wait until you have a scale, because taking too much Mimosa is an unnecessarily rough ride. Too much DMT can make the experience both difficult to handle and to understand... it is worth waiting until you can measure properly.

It was preety ok untill i had tiny zip of my mimosa tea, it was at most 0,5grams so it should not have affected me that much but i guess caapi + shrooms + mimosa is a guarenteed recipe for nausea Smile

Also i´m alot more sensitive to caapi compared to rue.

I agree with Melodic Catastrophe's idea:

Swim had caapi powder and it was very hard to filter. forget coffee filters.

Gravity works wonders if you put the solution in a mason jar or other tall thin container for 24-36 hours to settle. Then use turkey baster to siphon off your tea.

Cotton balls in a funnel work pretty well...much better than coffee filters. You can loosen them or scrunch them up to adjust for particle size

That's how i did it when i was working with that 4x powder. It works well for many things. Its how i separate mhrb bark from my acid pulls, and the same with acid pulls on cactus too. It takes a few more pulls to get everything out, but if your patient, and methodical it works beautifully.

My recommendation for brewing the 4x is to have a tall narrow glass container to pour you brew in, powder and all to settle. Once it settles pull off the top layer. Brew again and repeat. Microwave/Quick heat acidified brews in the tall glass itself, skipping stove-top brewing might just work assuming you use enough water, and let it sit and cool/decant the powder over a few hours to a day, repeating several times. Definitely something i might try w/ some powdered vine i have. Its the best way to extract lots of things in larger more hassled batches.

With mhrb, i nuke a jar of distilled water, fumaric acid and bark until its just about to boil, mix it well, cap it and let it sit for a day or two. Pull of the top layer, add more water and acid and repeat. Easiest and most effective way to do mhrb imho. All the sediment stays in that jar, and after 5-6 pulls its got just about everything out of the bark. Makes vac-filtration a snap since theres very little gunk, it all settles out in the cooler water and over time waiting. Then just reduce and drink/extract the tea. Takes a week or two, but easy and worth the few minutes of a few easy steps per day. I follow the same thing with cactus, but freeze the material between brews and just get it warm in the microwave. Seems to settle out fine ime.

In a society in which nearly everybody is dominated by somebody else's mind or by a disembodied mind, it becomes increasingly difficult to learn the truth about the activities of governments and corporations, about the quality or value of products, or about the health of one's own place and economy.
In such a society, also, our private economies will depend less upon the private ownership of real, usable property, and more upon property that is institutional and abstract, beyond individual control, such as money, insurance policies, certificates of deposit, stocks, etc. And as our private economies become more abstract, the mutual, free helps and pleasures of family and community life will be supplanted by a kind of displaced citizenship and by commerce with impersonal and self-interested suppliers...
The great enemy of freedom is the alignment of political power with wealth. This alignment destroys the commonwealth - that is, the natural wealth of localities and the local economies of household, neighborhood, and community - and so destroys democracy, of which the commonwealth is the foundation and practical means.” - Wendell Berry
