Wondering if anyone knows of an OTC MAOI, perhaps something sold as a dietary supplement? I've heard people say Yohimbine works for this but cannot locate this in store locations. I have access to the more traditional shamanic MAOI's online but also interested if there are name-brands you can buy at a vitamin store.

"maoi" is a somewhat ambiguous term in that sense. "maoi" is a term used to describe a broad range of substances that might be nothing like harmalas other than that they inhibit mono amine oxidase. People take harmalas as a sort of daily supplement due to specific effects that harmalas have that are not necessarily associated with the inhibition of mao..harmalas are psychedelics in they're own right with evidence behind them to suggest positive effects on brain health.. 5-HTP is OTC, but it's considered SSRI. A friend told me it really helped with her depression/mood swings. I tried it as an experiment, but didn't feel positive results. If anything, I felt slightly more easily agitated. Maybe it's only effective if you're already depressed.

A passionflower extract perhaps?
Piperine and Curcumin as well. Not sure how easy they would be to find in a store, I just extract them myself.

5-HTP isn't an SSRI, it's a serotonin precursor. Many people believe that it increases the production of serotonin in the brain, and so might be a risk factor for serotonin syndrome, but it works in a completely different manner from SSRIs. PK Dick is to LSD as HP Lovecraft is to Mushrooms

Syrian rue extract. legal in the USA but not in Canada. If you can't find an extract you could extract it yourself from the seeds. There are teks on this site to do that. Works amazing when taken 200mg orally and wait an hour. you can smoke it too. "Prying open my third eye."

Sorry. Harmaline is illegal. Other harmalas aren't. A vender I ordered from in the US sells pure extract and the told me it was illegal in Canada. They still ship though. Kind of a hard thing to regulate really. Lots of plants contain harmaline. ex. tobacco http://www.erowid.org/ch...asca/ayahuasca_law.shtml"Prying open my third eye."

Procaine hydrochloride (with some additives) available as KH3 or GH3 or Gerovital, stated as having ( amongst other ) antidepressant effects via MAOI mechanisms. Available in many countries around the world OTC. But probably not in the "Land of the Free"

I've tried a cup of yerba mante tea before a small dose of mescaline and had positive effects. I haven't found any info that has a definitive answer on weather it actually is an MAOI or not, but from my experience it does a good job of producing a slightly more vivid trip. all my posts are pure fiction [=

I've heard yohimbe has too many side effects to be a beneficial MAOI and passionflower requires large doses for an active MAOI inhibition.
Syrian rue on the other hand is great and cheap. To boot it's an RIMA which means it's not lethally dangerous like other classic MAOI's when it comes to diet and drug avoidance. You should always follow the dietary precautions to avoid nasty interactions though. I made the mistake once of eating sausage right after taking 225 mg of syrian rue and it felt WEIRD. It could have been the small mushroom I had taken earlier though...
Oh well, peace and love brother!
