I just did my first q21q21 naphtha pull and got some pure white crystaline powder. But man it smells bad, not naphtha but bad. Is it supposed to have such a strong smell? I've read a lot about it having a plastic sort of smell and it sorts of remind a bit of plastic. And when i tasted a pinch of it it tasted really really bitter. Kind of like those non-sugar sweeteners or Mdma.

Is that a good thing or bad?

It's bitter because it's freebased. As for the smell, I actually love it and I definitely don't think it smells like crap, try a re-x and tell us if it smells better afterwards.

Yes its very bitter, but it shouldnt smell sooooo strong. My guess is you probably have naphtha traces in it. I would say redissolve in pure alcohol/IPA/acetone and let it evaporate again to help eliminate traces of naphtha

alkaloids tend to be bitter
and that smell is typical of many indolic compounds.

I guess I was wrong to write that it was bitter because it is a freebase, however does a salted alkaloid has a less bitter taste ?

The salts do *burn* less though. Freebase under the tongue hurts, while fumarate just tastes bitter.

The smell of good DMT, such as after acetone redissolving, reminds me of some sort of floral soap, rather pleasant actually.

The smell of DMT freebase is very mild and pleasant – almost floral, as others have already stated. Properly vaporized DMT has very little taste or smell.

But DMT acetate as used in pharma (DMT freebase dissolved in a bit of vinegar) smells horrible and tastes even worse. Just typing this makes me feel nauseated!
