He used to make fluffy crystals that he would load with a lab spatula and have to compress down because it was so voluminous, but his slices are much more dense and fit readily into his choice
smoking devices, which happen to be quite small.
Any type of freebase can be formed into such a solid simply by adding a few drops of water water or a minute amount of any solvent and working the resulting goo around 'til it solidifies. SWIM prefers not to work with sticky powdery substances if he can help it.
In the image below, SWIM simply evaped acetone with a fan and worked around the oily product 'til it solidified. This product can easily be scraped up with a razor blade then rolled up by hand, as it's quite dense and malleable.
