A good old FOAF was doing a mimosa extraction and took several days in the process, on account of the large amount that he was working with. The first batch was allowed to sit overnight in the refrigerator prior to basification and napthafication as an alternative to filtration, and upon freeze precipitation yielded white crystals. The second batch was not allowed to sit in the fridge very long, and he says the naptha turned yellow from these batches and upon freeze precip yielded yellow crystals. He asked me to figure it out, and I theorize that due to the lack of proper separation of mhrb particles from the acidic solution prior to basification and nonpolar extraction, plant oils not extracted with acid/water came into contact with his solvent layer and thus imparted yellow coloration. He didn't tell me about any other variables that may have occurred between the two extractions, such as temperature, a/b ratios, etc. which may have also had an influence on the outcomes. Is this likely to be correct? And if so, does anyone have any technical advice I could tell him regarding purification and a hopeful return to snowy whiteness?

ReX with heptane to further purify. If not give them a test. If your smoking tek is good a little yellow won't make too big of a diffrence.

UPDATE: My FOAF had retained the urine-colored naptha used in the extraction process, and stumbled upon q21q21's post about jungle spice being pulled with Naptha, I believe he said he found it in the DMT Allies Extraction forum. Just on a hunch inspired by this post, he adds vinegar to the jar, shakes it vigorously a few times, and as the layers separate, the naptha clears up and the vinegar turns yellow, indicating that the yellow substance in the naptha is soluble in water if conjugated with an acid, but not when the water is basic. Plant oils don't act this way, do they? This must be some sort of alkaloid, correct? No evaporation attempt has occurred yet, but I would hazard a guess that since whatever it is that made the naptha look like urine does not readily freeze precipitate (it did add coloration to the freeze precipitated DMT crystals, but not nearly as much as it added coloration to the naptha, and it definitely was not all removed via freeze precipitation) and it definitely salts out. He is going to try an evap to see what happens and I'll keep you posted on the results. I'm excited about this, as it may turn out to be the good ol' jungle spice people have been talking about, or it may just turn out to be a bunch of urea (j/k)...or N-Oxide. Or something.

p.s. at the very least he cleaned the yellow pigment impurity from his otherwise unusable naptha, and therefore doesn't have to establish a reputation at his local gas station as "that guy who is either a pyro or has a million zippos"

So....if there was some yellow naptha as a result of super highly basified mhrb extraction, and vinegar was added resulting in fully clearing out the naptha and yellowfying the vinegar, that would indicate that the yellow stuff is not a plant oil but in fact some alkaloids, right? And they would then currently be in the form of alkaloid acetate, which would be no good for vaporizing, right? Anyone?

Woa buddy slow down man chill out and buckle your seat belt. First off it dose not matter that he rested the mimosa/vinegar
before basification. And if he is making a big batch instead of doing the same step over and over due to using a lot of mhrb he should just use bigger containers. What I do is just get a jug and after every acid boil I comdine all the mimosa/vinegar and boil that down a bit to work with easly so less NaHo is used. Also yellow naptha is good means there are some goodies left behind so what I sugest doing is lett this evap gown to a yellowish goo
and freeze it or just mix in some herbies and mix or fold this gunk into some mullein or mj and enjoy. No worries also he could
have accidentally gotten some mimosa/base mix in the naptha
making it yellow too? I have never gotten jimjam using naptha and I tryed hard! I used that PanoraMIX Euro A/B getting supposed jimjam with naptha ha I wish
