I am experimenting with changa.. thought with some leftover IPA I have and piles of leaves I could;

Take 15g bcaapi leaves and powder in coffee grinder...
Put grounds into jar with enough IPA to cover..
Leave it for a week or so with occasional shaking.
Filter ground through an aeropress coffee maker (which are awesome btw)
Pour nice clean green IPA onto 1g of chopped leaves and allow to evap...

This should give a nice 15x bcap leaf for changa useage shouldnt it??

Before its fully evap one could chuck in some spice and some other herb in the right ratio and bingo..

I should say i havent acidifed the mix - I was basing it on using everclear but chose some IPA instead.. The thread on IPA isnt really resolved as to if it worked... so worth a try I thought... im not trying to get fb or anything special.. just to make an enhanced leaf for changa.. would it be worth adding some salt to the mix... ? from what I can tell its PH6 at the moment..

fooked it ? or worth continuing to see if it goes red or not..

Hi there, some sodium bicarb or another base, best if used as solution (if don't just add a little bit of water) added to the extract when evaporating will basify the alkaloids making them easier to smoke, because as freebase they BP is going to decrease compared to they original salted versions.

Shocked Just checked out that aeropress, looks like a very handy tool!! Might have to get myself one of those... Has anyone had any experience using those with harmala, cacti, or mimosa extractions in place of a buchner funnel?? Does it create enough pressure? very cool. Cool

Yes, the AeroPress is well designed and works wonderfully for a $25 device. I've used it for caapi and mimosa but not for cactus. I'm not sure if cactus goo would clog the provided filters, but it's probably worth a try. It can be used like a (reverse) buchner/vacuum filter device or like a THP if you prefer slow percolation to pressure filtration. Since it can't hold a lot of water, percolation takes some patience. It works equally well for hot- and cold-water extractions. I've found that I can add up to about 25 grams of powdered plant matter, drop in some water, stir it around with the included stirrer and then press. Repeat as necessary until the plant matter is spent. It provides as much pressure as your hands/arms can muster. I find it very useful for small quantities, but not as convenient for larger quantities.

And I second the notion that it makes one heck of a cup of coffee!

So what is the amount of active subtance you will get in the caapi leaf resin (extracted from 100 grams of caapi leaf). Thats without adding the fresh herbs...

PS
and wow that aeropress looks great!! Also cool for rue extraction!

I use an IPA extraction when making my changa... I highly recommend it.

A little weary of contaminating my beautiful changa with sodium carbonate as no nonpolars are being used.....but I'm seriously no expert in chem.

That being said, the IPA straight to leaf has always worked wondefully for me.
