Something i never heard of before happened yesterday as im pulling naptha out of the mix i notice somethigns blocking the tiny little eye dropper in using its a little bundle of yellowy crystals....... i kept going and found i managed to get just short of a gram of spice out of the mix, and yet there s still more cystals floating in there, has anyone else had this or have jimjam shop just excelled themselves? the crystals are in dire need of a wash but its interesting, and suprisingly satisfying to do. especally as the naptha im using has been giving me some lacklustre performance (newport lighter fuel) I is someone else

I know other people have reported similar occurrences, at least one of which happened when someone left their naptha and basified mhrb sitting for several days. I can't find the threads at the moment, but I'll edit this post with them when I get a chance to look a little more in depth. Yea, if the naphtha was supersaturated and then left for a few days, the cooling and evaporation might cause some crystals to form.

they were left for a few hours at most, would that mean super super saturated? or just the naptha didnt keep it in? I is someone else

Time doesn't really have anything to do with super saturation directly, but more with the appearance of the floating xtals in your solvent (as your solvent cools these xtals will precip out). When a solvent is heated, it can generally hold more stuff in it. So when you heat up a solvent and dissolve more stuff in it than you could at room temp, it becomes supersaturated. However, once your solvent cools down, it is no longer able to hold this additional stuff. As a result, some of the stuff precipitates out as the solution cools, indicating that the solution was supersaturated and is now saturated. Because it is now saturated, that excess stuff can not be dissolved at room temperature, thus it remains in the solution as precipitate. It doesn't mean anything other than you have a bunch of dmt in your naptha. You can proceed normally, as those crystals would probably benefit from a re-x. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't evaporation (over time) reduce the amount of solvent and therefore the amount of DMT that would be able to stay in solution?

Assuming he's using a jar or jug for this, then I doubt enough is going to be able evaporate to make a significant difference (especially over a couple hours). And if it somehow was (although I maintain this would really only be possible in the time presented in a very wide dish), it's evaporation that causes the solution to become more saturated, not time. I get what you're saying (yes, evaporation occurs over time, what doesn't?) but it seems kinda nitpicky, like you're trying to split hairs. That's why i said "time doesn't really have anything to do with supersaturation directly". The relationship you just painted is indirect, i.e. time effecting supersaturation via evaporation. Either way, given that it was only a few hours, it's pretty unlikely that evaporation led to the precipitation here, the solvent cooling is a more likely candidate, imo.
