Hi all,

In the past and present I see many discussions between people who adhere the scientific way of life and those who practice the more mystical or even pseudo scientific way.

Since these two groups have a lot of heated debate, mainly about the (un)proven status of pseudo scientific topics I decided to split the discussion of these topics into better subfora where it is more clear what the discussion is about and where there is less chance that certain claims can be misinterpreted. I've put them under a new main category:

SCIENCE/PHILOSOPHY/SPIRITUALITY

In this main category there are three subfora:

Science
This is a scientific subforum where only real science can be discussed!

Mystic/pseudoscience
This subforum is for mystical and pseudoscience subjects like the recent Bashar threads.

Philosophy/Spirituality
Anything that will not clearly fall in one of the previous subfora will be placed here, this is also the former "Philosophy/Spirituality/Science" subforum which will be sorted mainly into the other two subfora over time.

I hope that this can bring back the mutual respect that we had in the past.

Kind regards,

The Traveler

Good job. Now I can send each respective side of my split personality to its appropriate forum!!

JBArk
JBArk is a Mandelthought; a non-fiction character in a drama of his own design he calls "LIFE" who partakes in consciousness expanding activities and substances; he should in no way be confused with SWIM, who is an eminently data-mineable and prolific character who has somehow convinced himself the target he wears on his forehead is actually a shield.

I noticed that this topic is on the Science subforum and it shouldn't be.

I doubted it at first too, but since it is an archive of many religious texts I see it as a prime source for research in that direction.

I think its a step into the wrong direction. Civilisation brought this strict seperation of certain cultural aspects like religion and science. What we need is to acknowledge, that science got its place, but is nothing more but a belief system. Seperating science and Spirituality implies, that this belief got more "value".

This stance is also reflected by the sorting of the new sub forums - Science is on top.

Isn't the term "pseudoscience" a liiiiiitle bit offensive to people that believe in non-scientific stuff?

My suggestion is that the "mystic / pseudoscience" sub-forum should be eliminated... and that these kind of "mystic/nonscientific" threads should be discussed in the "Philosophy & Spirituality" sub-forum.

Wouldn't religious texts be classified as philosophy? They are about as far away from science as you can get.
What, you ask, was the beginning of it all?
And it is this...

Existence that multiplied itself
For sheer delight of being
And plunged into numberless trillions of forms
So that it might
Find
Itself
Innumerably.
-Sri Aubobindo

Saidin is a fictional character, and only exists in the collective unconscious. Therefore, we both do and do not exist. Everything is made up as we go along, and none of it is real.

I agree. How about Mystic/Esoteric?

Not only that is offensive as i pointed out above, but i also strongly dislike the term pseudoscience, as if it would be less valuable. I agree with the suggestion to merge the forums.

edit: As it is now, i would post stuff which is currently in the mystic subsction into the spirituality forum because i don't see a difference and i also don't think that the term "esoteric" implies something negative.

Maybe "Mystical belief systems" or "Mystical religious systems" would fit the bill.
