So after doing some rather messy pulls, and a near-failed warm naphtha recrystallisation, I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to further purify my product.

At the moment, it is in the form of yellowish crystals/powder, with a few brown splotches added to the mix.

Just wondering, what would be the best way to clean up my gear, considering there is very little contaminant compared to overall product? Oh, also, I used noman's STB tek, so I only have that stuff available to me. Of course grabbing a few things from my local hardware store isn't a problem, but things like digital PH meters might be sort of difficult for me to acquire.

what went wrong with recrystalization? Its so easy! Weigh your dmt, put it in a shot glass, heat some water to near boil in a separate pot, turn fire off, add 30ml naphtha/hexane/heptane per gram of impure dmt to the shotglass, submerge the bottom of the glass in the hot water and let it stand for a few minutes/swirl it around/ A puddle of brown goo should stay on the bottom while the naphtha should stay on top. Just pour the naphtha out (or pippette it out) into a new container leaving the goo behind, close this new container, into the freezer and voilá. There's no way it wont work if you do it right

Hm yeah, that's pretty much what I did...but I ended up with mostly yellow material...maybe I'll try again, and decant instead of pipetting...it's possible that I accidentally dragged through some of the finer brown goo. I guess I should also use fresh solvent. I should just keep the old stuff away somewhere for fire spinning

I'm to understand that this brown goop also contains some of the good stuff, so I've saved it to add to my next batch

I'm pretty sure that if you use old naptha, then any plant oils that it already pulled will show up in the re-x. This yellow you're seeing probably comes from that.

yes you should definitely use fresh solvent for recrystalization! Whats the point of trying to clean up a product if you're using unclean solvent? Reuse your solvent for extraction, but not for recrystalization.

Also, you can add again another, say, 10ml warm naphtha to the brown goo that stayed behind after the first recrystalization pull, and decant that and freeze separately to pick up remaining actives (but this second pull will probably also have some more plant oils, thats why its good to freeze it separately)

Yes you can. Personally I dont see the point though, if you went for a foodgrade extraction, why 'spoil' that by using petrochemicals?
