STBIt seems pretty straight forward. What about how he washed the naphtha before he crystallizes? Swims never seen that method in the teks posted here. Edit: The link won't post for some reason. We just call it whatcha's, and its not on here. people use it here, i personally dont see the point in going through the ridiculous motions of this tek when you are a noob. Stick with the basics. The basics have yielded nothing but yellow crystals. Trying to get the white stuff and this tek seems to do the trick.

The basics? If you do any STB extraction right, the product can be as clean as you like. The principles are the same no matter what. Base water, add bark, pull with solvent, precipitate out, wash and recrystallize. What 'basics' have you been following? Im sure we could help you get it right. Teks are simply guides... its not the tek that results in a product. Like i said the principles are always the same... so work with them to get results.

I agree. A tek is only a guide to what you do. Everyone yields yellow crystals at some stage. All you need is a good re-crystallizing technique and you will have the nice clean spice you are looking for. Good luck!

I was referring to what gr1s said about the "basics". A foaf's done a few STB extractions with good results but he's never seen that method of washing. All he's asking is if doing the sodium carbonate wash before collecting the spice yields the white stuff? To him it seems like so much naphtha to clean when one could freeze precip, collect crystals, redissolve in minimal amount of hot naphtha, and then do the sodium carbonate wash at that point. Sorry for the miscommunications and thanks for the help.

Doing an SC wash does not remove the plant oils, so if you picked them up, it won't get you white spice. If you want the white, go for an Re-x PK Dick is to LSD as HP Lovecraft is to Mushrooms

Sorry for the miscommunications and thanks for the help. I always notice that an sc wash doesn't lose as much yield where as a re-x may lose you some product. Find whats best for you. I personally think one sc wash before freezing and one re-x after freezing is sufficent for clean spice. Also if you're looking for white crystals then pull your naptha from the mhrb soup quite quickly, around 20minutes after adding and dont have your hot water bath too warm, especially for the first 2 pulls. I usually do an sc wash on the first 2 pulls combined as the first pulls produce the whitest spice, good luck dude
