Here's a fun synchronicity!

So, my jaw dropped the other day when I was doing some market research for a sci-fi I'm writing, and (I don't know HOW I missed this!!), I came across a novel called, "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

Ohhh... CHANGA!! Does anyone know anything about the story behind the popular changa blends here, named after the novel? Wikipedia also alludes to something in the novel called... "Nexus6." (I have to get my paws on this book!)

It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know that, even if we never meet on earth, we are all SO united in our dreams.

The essence of a cyberpunk of novel is a slightly-post-future, dark, enclosed world where the hero is a freak of society, based on the sole fact he still has morals, human emotion, and heart-centered qualities.

Some people write cyberpunk, and it inspires people's changa. Some people smoke changa, and get inspired to write cyberpunk.

(I want to dance around, but maybe it's the caffeine in the black tea I just drank.) WOW!!!!!!
Some things will come easy, some will be a test

Writing is cool..i started to write like 6 different books and got lazy...

DO you mean that the term "changa" is from the book?..I know that in aus "changa" refers to a "smoking blend"..i think anyway.

I feel like this alot in our society...I dont fit in here at all...funny i went looking for work today..and of all the places i go to..ironic how in our day with all that is going on with the planet, the only place i can find that is hiring and pays a decent wage..is a logging and lumber company..and thats where i draw the lien right now..i refuse to help anyone cut down more of the BC rainforest..

Than I go to some environmental organization that a friend tells me about that is hiring people..to build communtiy gardens and more city greenspace..yet they wont hire me becasue im no longer "youth"..so its better than i work to destroy things becasue im 25?..seriouily this society is fucked becasue the economy cant adjust...

This society is sooooooo backwards. Ideals dont seem to help the individual at all.
Long live the unwoke.

Philip K Dick - unsung genius. Not only Bladerunner (the ultimate classic noir sci-fi film) but also responsible for "A Scanner Darkly", (made into a terrific film a couple of years back - Richard Linklater, I think ... check it out! Dark, funny and brilliant) also, "Man in the High Castle" is probably his best book, IMHO ... read it if you can.

Haha, you're funny.

I've never watched Blade Runner. I'm going to watch it on netflix in a bit....haha, while I work on some changa no less.

edit*...It was a wonderful movie. I especially liked Roy's performance in the end...especially x2, the moments just before he expires...the way he's speaking and reflecting...and realizing...the mannerisms of his face. Two thumbs up from me.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain.

Time to die.

yea, philip k dick has been the inspiration for a lot of sci fi movies. His books are amazing and to date they've made blade runner, minority report, and a scanner darkly from his books, i'm not sure if they've used any of his other material. You should read his wiki, the man was brilliant but completely wrecked as far as psyche/dealing with life. It may have sucked for him, but it no doubt catalyzed some amazing and awe inspiring art.

Talk about syncronicity, I've been watching Total Recall 2070 this week for the first time Very happy It's a spinoff of a few different novels. The first few episodes are 'meh' but it is getting better. Hulu has all of the episodes up for those of you who can view it.

"Now Wait for Last Year" is another good read, it's about a time-travel drug with a deadly addiction...

PKD allegedly tried really high doses of Vitamin C and was contacted by god, via a pink laser into his brain, who told him about a dangerous illness that his son was carrying - just in time to have doctors treat it.

He also thought the Roman Empire never fell... his life was pretty interesting.

Synchronicity indeed! I just finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? a few days ago. Its the first PK Dick book I've read, and its definitely not going to be my last. William Gibson's Neuromancer also just happens to be my absolute favorite novel. I love cyberpunk and futurist literature!

On a side note, has anyone played the Half-Life2 mod called Dystopia? It is by far the best cyberpunk game to have ever been created.
