I think the machine is outdated, better try the E-Mesh setups.
With any machine setup it might be really depending how well you construct it. Also the whole copper wire / mesh stuff feels not consistent for me.
Most of the times the vapor I inhaled did not feel healthy ...
Now about your idea with the aluminum foil:
Once I built something probably similar to yours, which was using a long glass tube and attaching some aluminium foil on one end. Drop spice from top and heat from below.
This was not good ...
Reason 1: You need an air flow from the bottom too (that's why the machine has a metal sponge-like end at the bottom) to drag air from down upwards to your mouth. If there is not a real airflow then the spice will not get towards yourself. You would need to make holes into the aluminium, but then the air will mostly bypass the DMT and not drag it upwards too efficiently.
Reason 2: Aluminium might not be too heat resistant and give off traces of aluminium into the air pretty easily. It has a low melting point compared to copper or steel and therefore you can expect also traces of metal released into fumes easier than with other metals. Aluminium might place a role in Alzheimer desease, although a high occurence of aluminium in your brain when being ill might just be a side-effect and not initially contributing to the desease evolution. Still, I would cancel potential unnecessary exposure of Aluminium whenever possible.
Reason 3: The foil will be so small that the optimal window where you need to hold your flame will be extremely small. Even if you dont get unhealthy aluminium particles for inhalation: Risk of getting 0,5 cm too close and instantly burning your spice due to the super thin foil will make vaping very difficoult.
Instead try the E-Mesh setup. It is much more user friendly.
