I almost always use music. The first few times I didn't, but now if I don't have something playing there feels like there is something missing and that becomes the focus of the journey, to figure out what is missing, and when I come back to myself I realize that it was the lack of music that was distracting me. My favorite to journey to is... Once Upon the Sea of Blissful Awareness by Shpongle or Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria by Vangelis What, you ask, was the beginning of it all? And it is this...
Existence that multiplied itself For sheer delight of being And plunged into numberless trillions of forms So that it might Find Itself Innumerably. -Sri Aubobindo

Well, like most everything else I have learned about psychedelics, it varies from person to person I guess. Many have liked music and I started listening to soft music at the advice of others and found it calming and have been told by almost as many that they do not like music as it distracts them from the experience. I have always liked music to help ease pre-flight jitters and, while I don't suffer from them as much as I used to, it still seems nice to have some soft music going but I have to make sure to get a better playlist going or not use Youtube The last 4 times I have tried to play music have not worked well at all. From adding a song that I hadn't listened to all the way through and not knowing Chong of Cheech and Chong was going to come in and start talking loudly on the track, to music just not syncing up right w/ the flow/tempo of the visuals, Music has not been as helpful lately. Good to hear all the various thoughts and opinions on the subject though. Not to mention all the good music tips. Always looking for new music to add to the collection. Tired of listening to the same things over and over haha.

Shadowlord I think it really depends on personal preference as well as the amount which is being taken, when I journey sometimes with spice I prefer to journey without music. With other entheogens music can be inspiring but of course depending on the amount which is being taken as well as mindset and setting... Everything which is incorporated into an entheogen journey is very dependent on the circumstances which are present at the time. Much Peace and Happiness

I merged the main dmt/music threads as there were at least three fairly lengthy ones that all had good responses Wiki • Attitude • FAQThe Nexian • Nexus Research • The OHTIn New York, we wrote the legal number on our arms in marker...To call a lawyer if we were arrested. In Istanbul, People wrote their blood types on their arms. I hear in Egypt, They just write Their names. גם זה יעבור

This is the greatest song of all time, and if you haven't smoked spice and listened to it, you have no idea what you're missing: http://www.youtube.com/w...kpY8&feature=related

Nice music Cam. And the length of the track is good for a spice flight. I'll have to give it a whirl. It is similar to what I normally listen to though and I'll have to see if it meshes or not. Last few times even some of my favorite Brian Eno tunes just didn't jive w/ the experience well. It was as if the the tempo of the music and the tempo of the visions were out of sync. It was odd as usually music is great with DMT. Thanks for sharing the link though. Always looking for new music. ( new to me anyway )

I've definitely enjoyed blasting off while just enjoying the music of hyperspace and the spice. However I found that the right song can really exaggerate the extension of time of effect as the time between notes or beats can seam like an eternity. The music really needs to have space to be effective, otherwise its structure will be distracting.
Some of the music I like while blasting off.
My Morning Jacket - It Smashes Down Radiohead - Go Slowly Pink Floyd - Adam's Psychedelic Breakfast Tool - Lipan Conjuring

I have been thinking about some Floyd. Off the same album as you are speaking of sybin but the first track.
- Atom Heart Mother: Father's Shout - Breast Milky - Mother Fore - Funky Dung - Mind Your Throats Please - Remergence
Although Adam's Psychedelic breakfast is another good one.
Some great suggestions. I may not listen to them all while spicing but I know many of them are being added to the general rotation!

- Atom Heart Mother The chanting might freak me out on spice, but once they get to that first groove, hell yeah!!! That baseline had to influence Radiohead's "Punchout at a Wedding"

SWIM has tried to use guided meditations but always finds them distracting and for the most part, annoying. They listen to differing sub-genres of Dubstep. Even songs SWIMs gotten tired of, sound like mind-blowing pieces of uncharted musical intricacy. While I've yet to experience my first DMT journey (coming up soon though with mama aya), I still felt the need to chime in and say Shpongle.. Shpongle, Shpongle. I use Shpongle for all my psychedelic journeys, almost without exception. My favorites.. The entire album "Nothing Lasts, but Nothing is Lost..." It's like Dark Side of the Moon in the sense that to really experience it you must listen to the whole album all the way through, though every track on it is a masterpiece. But to pick just a few choice nugs.. I totally agree with the person who said "Once upon the sea of blissful awareness".. Wonderful ambient track. I would also add "Around the World in a Tea Daze".. But I think the truly obvious choice for a DMT journey has to be Shpongle's tribute to DMT, the track "Divine Moments of Truth" :-) Embrace this moment, remember: We are eternal. All this pain is an illusion.

Shpongle, as always. I'm not a metal fan, but this isn't very heavy: Om I don't even hear Om a lot of the time when on spice; it simply guides. And before hearing it on spice I didn't like it that much. At Giza is great, as is the album "God is Good". A friend and I both had deep, spiritual journeys while listening to this. The song "On the Mountain at Dawn" was so wonderful when coming down it made me cry... ¤ø¸„ø¤º°¨¨°º¤ø¸„ø¤º°¨¨°º¤ø¸„ø¤º¨

I've never used DMT, but back in the day music was pretty integral for most of my experiences with varying doses of other entheogens. Music has always been a big part of my life. I don't imagine if I ever try smoking DMT I would use music, but maybe after a while if I got more familiar. However it seems like there is plenty of great stuff that could take over from some icaros to navigate/ride an aya experience. This song by Mouse on Mars was a huge one for me back in the day (well the whole album this comes from, but this song is amazing imo) http://www.youtube.com/w...yI8U&feature=relatedSo much other stuff I could go on for way too long, so instead I'll just link the one

Heh when i saw shpongle last this guy ripped a fat bowl of deemz, proceeded to hop on stage, rip his shirt off, then puke right in front of simon's dj stand. I learned after this event that this wasn't even the first time he had done this! [Edit]: I found the video on youtube for all you out there thinking "your crazy camdemonium"... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJaSPVmpRKE Enjoy
