This depends on the pH levels, always add the stronger acid/base to the weaker base/acid. If they are equally distant from neutral then it really wouldnt matter.

Not sure what you mean by acid base step?
Normans is an STB.
As long as the bark and the lye/water is in together it doesn't really matter which is added to which.
Thumbs up

I was referring to what Q21Q21 suggested to do before starting Normans. I'm finally going to do my first extraction this weekend. Thanks

Would it be a better idea if after adding vinegar and water to the MHRB and let it sit for 30 minutes just add water to that jar then lye?

Nevermind my question. Just found Cybs ATB 'Salt' Tek (Effin GReat!) and plan to use it for my first extraction this weekend.

I just have a question on it

Im using 50g of prepowdered Tepezcohuite (Mexican MHRB), would that require more water and/or lye ?

Ive never used this but I've heard that it is mostly the outer root bark. Use the same amounts and let us know what you get.

So even if it was Brazilian prepowdered MHRB you would use the same amounts?

yeah, i wouldn't stray from whats tried and true, especially for a beginner. You may yield less as the inner bark contains far more alks, but the procedure should remain the same. I would consider using cyb's tek as the yields are about twice as high. It's basically nomans with some salt and a warm acid soak to start.

edit: forgot you had already said that, was still thinking you were using noman's. Use the same amounts as the tek calls for and let us know what you yield. I'm curious because I was considering ordering some but have been waiting to here about what kind of alk content it has.

Thanks man. Well Tepezcohuite is the mother plant of MHRB and I've read that it contains more alkaloids than the MHRB from Brazil.

Himalayan salt is fine, correct?

Well I'll definitely give you an update on my results.

Is de-ionized water a better choice than distilled water ? Or it doesnt matter?

Distilled rather than de ionized
But if you can get filtered spring water that would be even better (ionically)
Tap water is also fine if you need to.

and by that you also mean its best for water to have ions? so smart water being distilled with added ions is a great choice?

For distilled vs filtered water see Ionic Strength here:

For tap water see post no.4 here:

There's been some reports suggesting that the yields with root bark of mexican origin are higher than brazilian, but just a warning here: Tepezcohuite is the traditional name for the MH tree in Mexico, but at the same time is the generic name of the plant part (and derivatives, like oils and ointments) used for cosmetics, and that is tree bark, not root bark. You might want to check your sources before doing all the work, because if what you have is not root bark you will not have results.

Good point. Thanks for mentioning that. Now I gotta make sure I have root bark not tree bark

I've had a lot of success by adding in an acid base step. First suggested by Q21Q21 in this thread post number 14.

My yield went up to 1% from 0.7, a decent enough jump I feel for bugger all extra work.

I added in enough vinger to make the MHRB clumpy then added small amount of very hot water and let it stand for an hour. Afterwards I added water and lye as in the normal Noman's tek.

I generally leave for about 12 hours before doing the first pull. I do pulls 1 and 2 together then wait another 12 hours before doing pulls 3 and 4. I never do any more than 4. Mainly due to time issues. Although I should since I think I will still keep getting a decent output.

Plus the product comes out extremly white and clean.

Some pictures attached.

Do you add the MHRB mixture to the mixture of water and lye?

Sorry only just seen this. Yes I add the vinger first and leave for 30 mins, then continue as normal. Adding water and lye
I like to make things up, everything above is made up and not real, it is a story for my own amusement. Sorry if you felt mislead.

I normally have to edit my posts within a couple of minutes for prose, spelling and grammar. Just to let you know.

This is my first post. I just got a little bit of powdered mimosa this week and was thinking about using the noman method for extracting. I've never done it before but have done extensive research and it seems to be the best for beginners, I don't know anyone who's tried this method yet so I'd like to hear some tips on first extractions, and best methods for a small amount. Thanks for reading guys.

Ps sorry if this is posted in the wrong topic. I'm on my phone, it's a bit confusing.
