I'd say coffee/tea (or other natural caffeine products) and coca leafs (not cocaine) are about equally addictive.
This contradicts what I've read. Tea and coffee are physically addictive. Coca is said to not be addictive. Maybe you yourself might be finding it psychologically addictive if you are in need of comfort, but anything comforting can be habit forming, like cake, or pizza!

http://www.cocamuseum.com/main.htm wrote:
When the habitual chewer does not undertake any activity, generally he/she does not consume coca or very little of it. Consumption can be easily abandoned indefinitely without any undesirable effects. Even, when the user is chewing coca and is offered a nutritious and appetizing meal, he will stop chewing to eat. In general, the desire to chew coca can be abandoned indefinitely, without suffering physical or psychological effects, or the appearance of compulsive behavior to alleviate the desire.

" I have seen many habitual coca consumers, who for reason beyond their control, such as an incapacitating accident, have been forced to remain several months in a hospital without possibilities to continue their habit, which had to be interrupted suddenly, show no signs of withdrawal symptoms. " (J.Hurtado)

Touche- the cocaine content is so low that some people say that it isn't the cocaine that one experiences when chewing coca (there are other alkaloids in there). It can show up in drug tests though, I'm afraid.

The dreamer thinks that the potency of his stuff is reducing, and certainly the numbing effect in his mouth is reducing. Does potency reduce over time (talking weeks)? Or has he become tolerant? Or even, has the vendor just stuffed the top of the bag with strong leaves, over the top of mediocre leaves? Laughing

Coatl, isn't your vendor selling it a little steeply? I can't imagine a Peruvian paying so much for a weekly supply. I imagine they would pay the equivalent of $6, say, for a weekly supply... I'm guessing a tenth of what your vendor charges. I mean, it's an alright price for trying once, but not sustainable for everyday use. Now there's a plant to grow-your-own with!

Oh, about how I said I was amazed at how the Coca Museum says the natives chew 8g in one bolus (8 times what the dreamer chews)... I found this picture on Erowid, and can imagine the lump in this guy's cheek to be about 8g! Laughing Dreamer's never tried this much because he can't see the point, 1g seemed sufficient and 2g seemed less enjoyable to him.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

Looks like tolerence does develop. After a week long break, the dreamer found his 1g chew to be strong again. Maybe that's explains why the Coca Museum says the natives chew 8g a time. Ok, that's all from me on this plant! Smile
