His website is all for show but is loaded with really bad information and shady claims.

His cacti are not authentic, he just names them and then writes BS about them using his website to make himself seem legit and credible. I could show you dozens of problems and lies on his site right now. He is just a clever BSer. Don't waste your money on his material, it is not worth it and is not what he represents it as.

This thread should be about your awesome cactus and does not need to be about a single lying and ignorant vendor.

I will point out that he sells the PC clone as San Pedro and gives it a trademarked name and then writes on his page that there is only one 'San Pedro' cactus. This is a total lie he makes for exploiting newbies and he knows it.

Well mang i really appreciate the heads up. I think im going to avoid his stuff from now on. It sucks that the majority of my collection is from this guy and that it might not be good stuff. But we'll see i guess. I least my bridgesii and macrogonus are legit. Smile

I have started a thread about trichocereus myths that will address common myths including some claims from his page.

Your plants are awesome! And a great start to a fun hobby.

When i started out around 99 i payed $30 for a tiny seedling of so called peruvian torch that was a totally inactive cuzcoensis, i grew it for years and thought it was legit and then after half a decade of time and effort discovered it was not active at all. It still grows as a houseplant in a friends house, but i wish i had not wasted so much time and effort on it.

The best thing i ever did for my collection was buy and sow seeds. I got better plants doing that than i did by buying, though i got some great plants from trades back in the day as well.

Goodluck!

Man i really appreciate all your help. A LOT. thank you. Everyone tells me to start from seeds so thats my next project now. Get legit seeds and start growing. Im really wanting to start a small backyard cactus farm so i wonder if i could have enough plants to run a small business in 5 years time. What do you think? How fast do these cactus grow from seed to harvest-able/clone-able ?

3-5 years without grafting if you feed and water often.
2-4 years with grafting.

Ah yes... blanketman... I know him well. Luckily I found out what he was up to before wasting any of my money on him! I was actually planning on buying that bridgessi with the little pup that you recently added, but you beat me to it!! Mad

Beautiful collection you've got going there my friend. But I'm gonna catch up to you pretty soon!! Big grin

It's a reference to the vendor who magic9 said he got a few cacti from, and who AKL is warning people not to purchase from because apparently he drop ships regularly and sells mislabeled cacti.

All of the pictures he takes of his cacti have the same blanket in the background.

Here is a pic of most of the cuttings i received for FREE from a local nursery. I love this place so much. The owner just kept handing me hard to find and rare cactus cuttings and such. These are the cuttings i havnt potted up yet.

The only ones im for sure about is the Blue Myrtillocactus geometrizans on the far right, the Cylindropuntia subulata on the far left and the Totem cactus in the middle with roots coming out the sides of it.

It sure is gorgeous! I just wish blanketman didn't charge so much... I've considered buying a coluple larger cacti from him, but I think I'll probably just continue collecting small cuttings and seeds and try to be patient as they grow into big ones Smile

Magic. I think SS has some T. glaucus. You should order some stuff from them. They are very good and wont send any crappily ID'd plants your way.
