Not sure...I've rarely had nibs, more just cocoa powder, in varying amounts. A raw cocoa/hot chocolate/melted cocoa butter mix is also nice...Cool

Just to clarify I am referring to "cacao" nibs. Terminology is important here because "cocoa" is a product derived from "cacao". The raw cacao is the pure stuff. Anyway, I get a very nice effect using powder with about 3 tablespoons added to some milk. It's chunky and doesn't dissolve well, but the milk goes nicely with the bitterness of the cacao.

I haven't personally tried the nibs, but I've heard reports of definite active effects from 2 to 3 tablespoons of raw nibs.

As a side note, there is a very good book called Monkeys Are Made of Chocolate, and it discusses the cacao beans being a primary food source for monkeys in Costa Rica. They have been observed to "get high" after feeding on them and appear to have a level of addiction to the cacao.

I bought some a few weeks back.. now I remembered a friend saying people said they potentiate aya or DMT experiences.. I decided to search it on here and lo and behold, it's being discussed.

I bought a bag of them and they taste vinegarish and bitter.. Bleh. I thought I'd like them if they tasted like chocolate but really bitter.. but no.. they don't really even taste like chocolate..

Are you sure? I was under the impression that cacao didn't taste at all like chocolate either - but haven't been able to confirm it myself. If only we could eat a Hershey's bar and swallow some spice! Hersheyuasca

The nibs taste like unsweetened bitter dark chocolate to me. If you add a little stevia it's like eating dark chocolate candy almost. I like it a lot.

Yep, yep, exactly! Very much chocolate tasting, but w/o the sugar. Any kind of sweetener makes it taste just like dark chocolate. I've gotten hooked on adding a tsp or two to my coffee in the morning. I add a little sweetener and whammo, I've got a mild entheogen Mocha! The powder doesn't melt like chocolate, so I have this sandy, bitter layer at the bottom that some how I've been acclimatized to not only enjoy, but look forward too! Go figure! Very happy

I usually have about a small palm fill and i definitely feel the effects of warm euphoria and a definite glow with a nice amount of energy and clarity. I personally think that the effects of normal chocolate are very minimal as a mood enhancer due to all the sugar and milk solids that are in the regular chocolate that is sold in shops today. Cocoa nibs are far superior in their effects as a mood enhancer on their own or even added with an entheogen i have found cocoa nibs go very well with mushies, cactus and khat i am yet to incorporate them with spice but i am very keen to see how the cocoa nibs would enhance the effects of the spice. Rolling eyes

Different types of beans have a different taste. Some raw beans have a mild chocolate taste while others taste like more nuts. I once had beans that had tasted like a mix of chocolate and almonds, very nice.
If you had a good batch of raw cocoa, you wonder why they started burning cocoabeans in the first place. But for beans of lousy quality it probably does some good.

About how many grams or ounces would that be?

Swim get's grounded shrooms that are mixed with chocolate and each chocolate contains 1/16 oz.. Swim and many of his friends have notice that the experience mixed with the chocolate have been more intense and smoother than without the chocolate. It definately seems to potentiate the experience.......high content of theobromine?

*********quote from wiki***********

theobromine is derived from Theobroma , the name of the genus of the cacao tree, ( which itself is made up of the Greek roots theo ( "God" ) and brosi ( "food" ) , meaning " food of the gods" ).

10 to 15 grams of powder has a moderate effect for me. I suppose the nibs would be about the same, but I've never tried the nibs.

I just ate a small palmful of cacao.. it measured about 6-7 grams on my shitty scale.. lol only grams, but it's useful for my bigger stuff..

I'm going to wait about 10 minutes and smoke some DMT.. see if it has any effect.. I just put them all in my mouth, chewed them up.. As for someone earlier saying I got ripped off, I didn't, they're cacao nibs.. pure cacao.. I read sometimes they can be vinegary, which is a bad thing you wanna try not to look for.. but some of them seem less bad.. adding a sugary drink makes them more bearable.. Anyway, I wished they'd be more like extremely dark chocolate.. they only have a slight chocolatey taste which is overpowered by the vinegarness.

We'll see if they potentiate the last bit of DMT I have left.. I figure why not.. it'll be my last until another extraction..

That sounds yucky. My nibs taste just like unsweetened dark chocolate. They are delicious!

Let us know how the test goes.

That`s a BAD SIGN ! it means the nibs getting mouldy.....and they are not superfood anymore

dump them to make your liver happier , lol

After downing half of a terribly bitter 86% cocoa super dark chocolate bar and what appeared to be approx 1.5g of some type of fungus on a peanut butter sandwich, SWIM had an awesome experience. The duration was extended a few hours and it felt like swim was wearing kaleidoscope glasses until he fell asleep, and even then he had some strange reoccurring dreams. It seemed like the chocolate made it easier to stay focused on SWIMs thoughts, like he retained and learned more from it.

Only more research with fungi encrusted sandwiches will tell for sure...

I didn't recall that I had the cacao and I think I forgot what it did.

I did however just eat 10 grams of the cacao nibs.. I read online that the vinegar smell isn't desirable but it happens and I don't think they're all like that.. just the bag smells of it a bit when opened, and they're extremely bitter.. but if I pour a little lemonade in my mouth it's funny how the sugar changes the taste..

I plan on smoking what is a moderate dose of DMT for me.. where things start to go from rippling and waving to crystallizing and the visions get a little more intense.. if I aim for that level (I still dont have a scale.. lack of funds from funding DMT) I'll be able to tell generally how much greater effect there is, if any..

I do feel, about 5-10 minutes after chewing them all now, slightly happier.. my vision seemed to have sharpened a bit which I don't believe is placebo.. I notice visual changes very acutely.. I can tell the change from 15 mg's of DXM.. I pick up on really subtle effects better than others I've known (and yea I'm a little proud of it, I spent a long time paying close attention to my thoughts, which I never realized was basically meditating) and I definitely feel a bit better, lifted a bit, just a sorta caffeinish boost.. feels pretty nice.. brought some euphoria from the blends I had earlier and a slight opiation back somewhat.

I'll try to remember to report back this time.. I ate the nibs.. gonna smoke a cig.. then in like 20 minutes or so I figure I'll smoke some DMT, see how it goes. Wish me luck Pleased hopefully it adds some unexpected fireworks
