Peace and love friend and you certainly sound like a very interesting person, wish more wanderers like yourself were near by Thanks to everyone for responding to this question, I was not expecting so much feedback but you all are very interesting people and I find it very inspiring that despite our cultural and career difference's, we are here present sharing this moment. Nice little thread going here something i was curious to aswell As for myself culinary industry,im a student chef in my third semester currently interning, finishing in August and then moving out of the restaurant industry and into the baking side of it,not a big fan of the hospitalty side of this industry but pulling through for the sake of the diploma and that something extra for when the need arise. For all of you best of luck in your endevours and alot of admiration from my side to be able to juggle the daily grind and your nexian lifestyle, quite the challenge(for me atleast)i seem to budget free time more than money The lives of all they occupy their eyes in dismal gloom the all-piercing,dead oculi - mirrors of our doom Oblivious to the trespass as you gaze into the black the demon of surveillance insultingly staring back Into you, they own your every secret, your life is in their files the grains of your every waking second sifted through and scrutinized, they know your every right. They know your every wrong, each put in their due compartment - sins where sins belong

hm, I quit my potential carreer because I saw no value in having one. It was only keeping me back as a developing being. Sure now I live with less money, but with a lot more love and fun and motion. I have been doing or learning art/book binding the winter months and in the summer months I am a water-sport* instructor. I'm an autodidact, hobby ex-mycologist, have a degree in physics, am author of the OHT and striving to be an erudite. I would like to learn and learn and learn - about the mind, the universe, languages, traditional crafts, botany, mycology, alchemy - and then share my knowledge, communicate, change, evolve, expand, travel... Who am I? I'm noone in particular and no one who is defined by a carreer. *one specific water sport Buon viso a cattivo gioco! --- The Open Hyperspace Traveler Handbook - A handbook for the safe and responsible use of entheogens. --- mushroom-grow-help ::: energy conserving caapi extraction

I wouldn't want to be defined by a career, that's a very limited scope of one's attributes. Doesn't really say much about a person aside from superficial roles and mores. Although I happen to like analyzing biochemicals and bloodborne pathogens, it's just a small, insignificant part of who I am. Love hearing the diversity of responses. Only point in a career is to provide funding for the more important experiences in life. Thus, I hope to acheive a surplus and spread it those around me. Current career is Flight Simulation Software Engineer though would like to own a few self-sustaining restaurants in the future. --------------------------------------------------*Kash's LSA Extraction* * Kash's Mescaline Extraction*------------------------------------------------------ All things I say are complete and utter ramblings of nonsense. Im sure the novelty will wear off but as it stands I work 20-25 hours a week and the rest of the time I can make music, my real work in life My friend is doing a course to do just that, but he wants to go out to Brazil to teach kids English. Awesome job, man. I do post production for music videos. Mainly unheard of artists who are amazingly talented and up-and-coming in the industry. It's not loads of money, but it pays the rent/bills and I LOVE doing it. I also just started my own graphic design firm (logo's, title sequences, idents). I am also a freelance illustrator. I got sick of having to work for people who treated me like crap, so now I'm my own boss It's a lot of work, as the company is still in it's early days... but it is definitely picking up. I feel extremely fortunate to do what I love and actually get paid for it!

Ive started learning the language ( vietnamese) so will be here a few years so once I know the language maybe try south america for a bit, I hear theres a lot of work in ecuador plus lots of cactus and aya which is very appealing hehe wait and see but yes its pretty easy to get into if your a native english speaker and you fancy living abroad and I said before most of the time your just having fun

Interesting thread!! Wow, ive worked with alot of different things! Lately, however, ive landed in my studies.. Since 5 years ive been studying social behavioral sciences: psychology and sociology, also doing some minor research. I am actually operationalizing a thesis now that examines the implications of societal non-tolerance towards narcotics - and how this affects drugabuse of exotic psychedelics in western society (as ayahuasca) when taken illegaly without the shamanistic and cultural frame of reference (differences in experiences, internalisation etc). But this is me ADHD:ing lately in combination with psychedelic experiences and an extreme urge to understand life. I mostly enjoy making music and painting!! Such a lovely thread, I would probably only take a job position if I was able to work with children, plants, animals or if I would be able to help people in some way... I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to do 6 months of volunteer work at a local center for the rehabilitation of wildlife. I have chosen to do what I am passionate about in life rather than pursuing a career path in order to just make money, though investments and financial stability are also very important. I work with nishikigoi and I'm busy training in mindfulness techniques so that I can help people deal with and manage stress in order for them to cope and find a healthy balance and equilibrium within their lives. I am also able to cultivate and grow my hobbies and the things that I love in life. I am writing a children's book and for the illustrations I am using my own photography to try and inspire children to go outside and reconnect with nature. I have a keen interest in cymatics, optics, exploring, oneirogenic plants, biomimicry, synchronicity, consciousness, astronomy, photography, geology, anthropology, botanicals, mycology, botany and permaculture. I'm also studying Buddhist philosophy, I would love to travel back to India and participate in intellectual discussions and debates with my teachers. If I hadn't built up the courage to do something that truly matters to me, I would never have the opportunity to pursue my hobbies and my passions and none of what I am cultivating now would be possible. Much Peace and Understanding

This is an interesting thread. Aegle i have a couple of friends who write and illustrate childrens books and i think i would enjoy working with kids. And a mate of mine is a police seargeant who has been known to smoke a joint or two (but not on the job - that would be hypocritical). I have done forestry/tree surgery, despatch riding, overhead crane driver, motorbike mechanic, boat engines, cornish hedging and i now work for myself repairing things and doing small engineering jobs (mostly motorbike related). I am trying to formulate a career path whereby i can give something back to society whilst incorporating some of the personal skills i have developed over the years such as tea drinking, shoegazing, self doubt and looking out of windows. I think i would like to train to be a drug counsellor to see me through to retirement. Failing that maybe a TEFL course and teach English.

I have reached the concluson that I cant have no one single carreer. So - branch out!! I also echo the sentiments of others, in that a career is not the measure of someone, and that making a living at what you enjoy doing is easy money . If you can earn a crust to help enjoy your time on this giant playground that we have been lucky enough to find ourselves on it"s all good.

Awesome thread! I'm a resident at an intentional community that is dedicated to the awakening of consciousness. I've been living here for 2 years next month and my major responsibility this go around is the ''steward guardian'' which is basically the person in charge of our summer internship program. In addition, I'm the marketing G, computer G, telecomm. G & sustainability G. But really, I'm trying to balance my inner & outer realities, achieve harmony through conflict, move through non nurturing constructs in/of mind, cleanse my system and have a grand old time through it all. A few years ago.. I was in a bar in SF having drinks with my ''hard earned money'' and recall telling my friends I'd much rather be living on a farm somewhere, or in an intentional community....... a year later, out I popped on this mountain top. Anything is possible, even the impossible.

So many replies from everyone I was going to attempt to reply to everyone but at this rate it wont be happening. I do see quite a few people who are not working and many things are mentioned and philosophies shared that I share common ground with. After going through 13 jobs, I realised that working get's in the way of living! Unless of course you discover what makes you happy, then you will never do a days work as the saying goes. I believe you only really discover who you are when you have nothing, then you realise you have everything! Woohoo, a paradox in a box. Again, thank you to everyone for sharing your interesting normal lives here, has really opened my eyes at the professionals, creatives and thinkers that are on this forum. You are all awesome people doing awesome things, whether your drawing, thinking, reading, playing, painting, building, we are all here at the Nexus for something greater than ourselves. Many blessings friends and one love!
