Starchy foods can do that to me, like I said I usually just eat fruit and raw veggies the day of drinking. I rarely drink in the morning, bit when I do I like to eat melons and that sort of thing.
But never full. That's just a good way to waste both a shot of whatever and a meal! And it of course decreases the absorption rate, leadin to those long but mild trips, as well as taking longer to purge without wasting some of the dose. You may have these gut issues, Jaime, But I think many would agree ghat a large bowl of pasta and meat isn't going to feel great and probably isn't so easy to purge! But I have taken jurema while eating a rather poor diet and I didn't get any reactions except in the guts. Now occasionally harmala/jurema gives me very little nausea.
Actually what I usually do is fast (or light light foods) before I dose and then sometime after the peak I eat. Sometimes I eat really fat while tripping... And occasionally it will kick the experience up a notch. Others on the nexus and some whom have had some of my brews notice the same thing.
OP: I havnt yet tried this but in this thread MelodicCatastophe tells me about it and I think he (she?) had done it before. I just messed up a Tao of rue extraction (hopefully I can rescue at least some of the harmalas) and the next time I do an extraction on rue it will be an ethanol extraction. I think the resin yielded will be for oral use mostly, as it would gunk up changa and make it harder and harsher to smoke. But hey, that could be a simple way for you to extract rue and reduce the amount you have to eat for the effects you are looking for!
